If anything it sets you up better for Uni instead of going to possibly a lesser institution with grades below what you're capable of. Even from a life perspective I think teens would often benefit from starting a year later and being that extra bit more mature. If anything I'd encourage more people to resit if they think they can get much better grades and even if not take a gap year. It's a long life and you'll have to work for most of it - take your time and don't always rush to the next thing

I agree, I dont think anyone should go straight from College to Uni, take a year or two out and consider other options before you commit to a course, I know alot of kids who either dropped out because they hated the course, or started a new course in their second year because again they hated the course, far too much pressure to go to Uni straight from school
