Default Anything to gain

We are now on series 14 of bb, and the housemates are p*ss poor!
I think this will be and should be the last bigbrother if not for ever at least a very long time.
everything is watered down and looking very old and dated.
I would describe bb as having a pet that you have loved but its suffering and it needs to be put out of its suffering!

what do you lot think?

I think the 31 threads and over 800 posts in less than a week shows that people still love bitching about the BB HM's.

I have watched from the start and always feel ambivalent at the start. But I do usually get into the swing after a couple of weeks and argue for my Fav HM.

Maybe the whole format is now dated and tired, lets see how the viewing figures compare with previous years.

I too have watched from the start, true we have had something to argue about mainly bad housemates, I can see this series nose diving long before the end.

I struggled last year early on to pick someone to support, and it's the same this year. Hopefully someone will grow on me.

any series i've watched i've always disliked at the start. you don't know people or who they act. takes time. right now we have females overpowering the guys. once a few of them drop i imagine things will start to get more interesting from the rest of the house.

although i disagree with them bringing in the twins and the mom/daughter.

they really need to invest some time in testing out potential housemates. putt them in a group and make them socialize for a day. toss some in the house together. etc

I preferred the show way back when it was a social experiment and we really connected with HM as they went on "journeys" during the course of the shows long runs (10 to 12 weeks).

But in recent years it has evolved into a frothy pointless reality TV popularity contest. With the producers employing every twist and surprise they can think of to increase viewing figures, the real ethos of the show has been lost long ago.

I admit I am guilty of watching now for the bitching and the so called entertainment factor, but I watch now more out of sentimentality.

I don't think the show will survive for much longer however I said that 6 years ago and it's still going....!!!

nope, I'm a huge BB fan and I enjoy watching it every year..I can't see that changing anytime soon, even if the program isn't as good as it used to be, I still love it and get hooked very easily.

I actually like the housemates this year. I think having a break from BB last year helped.

The show still has the potential to give us something different every year, if the ratings could hold I don't see why it would have to end anytime soon

Trouble is that is a very big 'if'

I think these are the best housemates we have had for quite a while

Its definitely been the best first week since bb7.

I think the ratings justify themselves another series.

This series had potential to be a great, but it won't be in a few weeks time when all the decent house-mates who provide or will provide something leave, they've shot themselves in the foot going back to vote to evict.

you say decent, I don't see any of them as decent housemates, the mouthy one's, the boring one's the crying ones, show your tit ones,
they are just copy cats of the previous dregs

This year they have given us a great group of housemates. So glad they went away from BB12 when it was all London centric under 25s and attractive, that series albeit had one the best ever winners made me think what are they doing with this.

Has potential to be good, I'm just worried VTE will be a very bad move. We shall see.

I'd be more than happy if they decided to take a break and keep it off air for a good 5 or so years. I still watch the show and I probably always will do for as long as C5 decide to produce it, after spending 8 years watching BB there's no way I could bring myself to abandon it now. However, I have found myself rapidly losing interest. Should it be announced tomorrow that it's getting cancelled I don't think i'd be as horrified as I was back during BB10. It's just another show to me these days. It's no longer the big event I used to consider it to be. I don't know if that's for the reasons you suggested about the same ideas constantly being recycled or if it's because we're on our seventh series in just under two years but something is missing for me.

I think they're great housemates and the fans are ruining it on their own by complaining over every tiny little detail

Im finding the show easier to enjoy by staying away from the forum when the highlight show is on.
The show is what it is i think we all know its not what it used to be but the level of posting on here has gone downhill faster than the show there are some behaving like right spoilt brats this year.
Its not a nice board to be on when its like this.
