Hai TIBB!
Being a while, I usually just lurk on forums to see others opinions. But I would just like to ask what do you think, do you think Big Brother has done well for channel 5's first year. Even thou they kinda mucked it up from the start. Not gonna mention it, encase people go crazy so ill leave it out, but i mean things like the fact it was on straight after the CBB. I think it did ok, for channel 5, although if we look at BB1 on channel 4 that didnt do so great either, maybe this year channel 5 just wanted to play about with the show and test out the waters Maybe next year will be epic! I have to admit i hated here but overall the housemate that got me into the show this year was Rebecca, plain simple, i hated her and i could not stop screaming at the telly, yet i was sad to see her go! So yea i thought this year was basic but did channel 5 well, lets see what will happen next year. (Yes i know there is one week left but lets just see what happens) |

Not a success no but it's not been a complete failure, I think it's been good enough to justify one more series at least

It's been a decent start for BB on C5.
Next year they just need more outrageous housemates and a live feed.

Couldn't have been much worse. Totally dumbed down, edited to within an inch of it's life, no livefeed & no original aspects. Exclusive chav material.

Personally I think it's been very successful, however I'm not sure what C5 would count as success.

Not regularly under 1M & as low as 800K, that's for sure.

It's been better than BB10 and BB11.
Shame we didn't have the vital resource which is LIVE FEED. |

In terms of entertainment, for me, it's been great.
In terms of ratings and success for the channel, it's been... ok. The ratings are good for the channel but then some of their one off shows get similar, if not more viewers and only cost a fraction of the price Big Brother does. Only difference is that BB is on every night and those one off shows aren't. Weather or not they'll want to renew the contract for such a high price again I suppose remains to be seen. Not exactly, but not a complete disaster either.
The overnight ratings were low for BB but high for C5, and audience figures were consistent - 1.4m or so weekdays, 1m or so at the weekend - the demographic breakdown has yet to be issued, but I suspect that it will consist mainly of the target viewer, aged 12-18 ..... Whether C5 executives think it was worth the massive cost is another matter, as is the satisfaction of the sponsors and advertisers ..... |

Isn't it overnights that most other series are judged on? Whatever the actual ratings are they have regularly rated worst 1-5 sometimes even beaten by ITV2 & other much cheaper shows in their own lineup. Not good enough for a show that costs Ł40M.

For me it could have been great, but lack of live feed (Yeah. I know ) and really atrocious editing have ruined it.

Even so, there's only been 2 or maybe 3 episodes that have had less than a million viewers and they were Saturday nights as well, I haven't seen it beaten by ITV2 that much either, even on the Saturday's it always does better than Xtra Factor

Its about the audience share more than ratings, and BB12 and BBBOTS has helped raise the audience share for 5 and helped put it on the map. Sp yes, its been a success in my eyes

Yeah but overall, as mentioned its about percentage of audience share rather than singular showings of big brother.

Yes it has been good, what's the alternative No BB AT ALL.
We have to thank channel 5 ,they needn't have bothered with it. There are a lot of people that don't like BB but for the hardened fans it's wonderful. |

I may be wrong but I think I read that the share has only increased by around 0.3 which is obviously a lot lower than expected, the share for Big Brother even this week has been as low as 4%. It should be the highest rated & share in C5's schedule of which it's regularly neither.

Because saturday's have always drawn bad ratings, you were saying it's "regularly" drawn in less than a million viewers when this is clearly not the case, those were the exception not the norm, and the last few weeks it's still beaten the Xtra Factor despite the poor viewing figures
