I was talking to my sister about Big Brother last night. She said it has turned more "chavvy". Definitely since it has gone to Channel 5. (Although I would say the last 2 series of BB on channel 4 were a bit "chavvy".)

I just think anyone who has been in the paper/shagged a footballer should be a celebrity. Helen Wood should have been in the celeb series along with White Dee and George. Kimberley the playboy bunny probably should have been too.

I do hope for the 2015 Civilian series it is about a load of nobodies who have NEVER been in the public eye and who would just love the experience of BB and the chance to win 100 grand.

You can find "good looking" people in "working class" jobs anywhere!

Of course throw in a diverse bunch like 1 or 2 benefit scroungers, middle class, a posh toff, etc!

There's been chavs in BB since series 1 - nobody remember Caroline? And Jade Goody was about the chavviest thing that's ever walked through the doors.

I think they mean the show itself is chavvy. :smug:

How can the show be chavvy when it's about the housemates? :conf:

I think it going downhill fast, even the celeb version is lowbrow.. I wouldn't call it 'chavvy' as I hate that term but the selection is made now for the potential clashes or 'relationships' only it seems.

...hmmm. no I don't get the 'chavvy' bit but I think since the loss of livefeed it's just become more and more manipulated to the point that the public no longer decide in the same way that they used to and just basically become a different type of reality...more of a 'hero and villains' type show...

I don't think it has turned more chavvy. There have always been chavs in Big Brother. The chav culture is just celebrated more nowadays; Gina Rio and Helen would not have stood a chance on Channel 4. I blame the audience, not the production team for this one.

It's tacky, but it was definitely chavvier on Channel 4.
