** Why does the sun lighten our hair, but darken our skin? **
Two different processes involving UV light, but for both still causing damage to organic matter. The answer is to cover up in strong sunlight and use a good factor suncream
** Why can't women put on mascara with their mouth closed? **
How else can they get an even spread over the lips ?
** Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the bottle? **
The question is why does it stick outside the bottle, simply a reaction with oxygen. If you look at an old glue bottle you will find solid glue near the top where it meets the air. This also explains why the top in time sticks to the bottle.
** Why don't you ever see the headline "Psychic Wins Lottery"? **
May be psychic powers do not really exist ? Howard Hudini spent a lot of time to expose spiritualist mediums as frauds. A similar job has been done by the stage magician the Amazing Randi
** Why is "abbreviated" such a long word? **
** Why is a boxing ring square? **
** Why is it called lipstick if you can still move your lips? **
** Why is it that doctors call what they do "practice"? **
I will have to get back to you on this
** Why is it that rain drops but snow falls? **
Snowdrops do exist, but they are flowers. We do actually talk about rainfall, because we measure it in a Rainfall Guage
** Why is it that when you're driving and looking for an address, you turn down the volume on the radio? **
To aid concentration in driving and searching, by removing a distraction.
** Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons? **
An organic acid is useful for cutting through grease, where as the acid, citric acid may not be seen as palatable.
** Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker? **
This comes froim the french Brocour
** Why is the third hand on the watch called second hand? **
It marks out the seconds
** Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour? **
Because that is the time everyone ones to rush to and from work, unfortunately the sheer weight of Traffic (SWT) causes the flow to be impeded
** Why is the word dictionary in the dictionary? **
Why not :conf:
** Why isn't there a special name for the tops of your feet? **
Like the Extensor Tendons or the Tibia ?
** Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food? **
Economics of scale, there is not much meat on a mouse compared to that of other annimals.
** Why can't they make the whole plane out of the same substance that little indestructible black box is? **
The black box (which incidentally is orange for visibility) is designed to withstand high velocity impact. If the plane was made of the same materials, it would not be able to be supported by its undercarriage, let alone fly
** Can fat people go skinny-dipping? **
Yes - at authorised naturist areas
** Why do you need a driver's license to buy liquor when you can't drink and drive? **
This is merely used as a proof of age. It is not however a real proof of age, as a 17 year old could hold a valid drivers licence, which is still below the legal limit to purchase alcohol
I hope this sheds a little light on these questions

Most enlightening, Sticks.
Now . . . . . I'm not a nurse, only someone who trained as a medical secretary, but . . . . . .
** Why isn't there a special name for the tops of your feet? **
like the Extensor Tendons or the Tibia?
I think you'll find that the tibia is actually one of the bones which runs from your knee down to your ankle along with its partner, the fibia (or fibula).
Correct, ROB?
