Why? She wasn't the one fined. Plus there are health and safely laws about food and drink. Surely we can't pick and choose which ones we will abide by.

Ah so it's only specific laws that are political correctness gone mad.. Which ones?
If it was enforceable why was it revoked?...

I don't think most health and safety laws are PC. They are obviously there for valid reasons.
PC pressure probably. If there was something wrong with the lemonade and someone got sick from it who would be accountable? Of course that seems unlikely, but what if?

Or..... there was no warning issued before the fine.

I don't know what the normal procedure is in cases like that but in my opinion the child is being used as a distraction and to make a point. The fine and anything else associated with it was for the parents/guardian, not the child.
Are people really going 'RULES ARE THERE TO PROTECT PEOPLE I SUPPORT THE COUNCIL!!!1'
Well yes, but there's something called calmly warning a five year old girl that she isn't supposed to be doing this, not slapping her with an £150 fine and traumatising her

The fine wasn't given to the child - what part of that don't people get. It's just a headline.

Be that as it may they can warn people instead ****ing giving them a big expense to pay
It's been reversed now so they obviously see that they've done something wrong anyhoo :hee:

What about in this case.
Do you think this academic was subsidising his tutoring by selling lemonade outside his front door?

If a five year old girl set up her own lemonade stand, she deserves a place at some kind of genius school.

I think Arista is probably right. The dad set this up and cynically used his daughter to make money and try to avoid fines. I very much doubt it was all the 5 year olds idea.
