Love Island's Sophia Gradon has died at the age of 32.

Sophie’s boyfriend, Aaron Armstrong, along with her friends and family confirmed via Sophie’s personal Facebook account that she had passed away.

Sharing a picture of them together, he wrote: "I will never forget that smile I love you so so much baby your my world forever ever and always"

The former reality star, who hailed from Newcastle, was crowned Miss Great Britain in 2009.

She's also a former Miss Newcastle.

She made history on Love Island as one half of the show's first same-sex couple after she coupled up with Katie Salmon.

Before that, she'd been coupled up with barman Tom Powell.

It is not yet known how Sophie died.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson told the Daily Star: "At about 8.27pm yesterday (June 20) police attended a property in Medburn, Ponteland, where sadly a 32-year-old woman was found deceased.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death. A report will now be prepared for the coroner."

Wait, are they blaming Love Island?

They’re both her friends so I’m assuming they’re both just in denial/shock and are lashing out. But if her depression was caused by Love Island and that led to her death then the lack of after care by the producers is a contributing factor at the end of the day. It’s not as if Malin and Jasmine both wouldn’t know what goes on with these shows with Malin being on Sophie’s series of Love Island and Jasmine doing Big Brother and other shows.

How was Sophie's time on the show? A good one... or?

She lasted most of the series but ended up leaving the series a villain of sorts because she made one of the newcomer girls come out as bisexual on TV to couple up with her and keep her in the show and then turned around and said she wasn’t interested in her once she the eviction was over.

Jasmine was implying it was down to her expectations after doing Love Island not materialising and comparing herself to the achievements of other contestants but idk. I don’t think we’ll ever know :(

Not Love Island dying quicker than it became popular.

Kind of puts Big Brother's controversies in the shade (although I know, BB caused a few contestants to become depressed and even self harm).

Yikes.

Did she have a bad time during Love Island? Was she a villain?

Just a few days before she walked, she was pretty much isolated by her fellow islanders. shortly after her Boyfriend Tom was Dumped, Her and new girl Katie were attracted to each other. The were both Bisexuals. They recoupled up at the next recoupling Becoming the first Same Sex couple on the show.

During a Game in which the islanders heard tweets from the public,One tweet questioned her motives towards Katie and whether or not their relationship was genuine. Sophie realized she still loved Tom and Missed him, Ending her Relationship with Katie. Katie was Angry and felt used and ''Mugged off''. Her fellow islanders agreed and they all sent Sophie to Coventry, Hardly speaking to her before she left.

It was quite Uncomfortable tbh

Not really though, one of the first things Katie said to the islanders was that she was bisexual, and that's when everyone started setting the two up. Definitely wouldn't say she "made her come out on TV"

She definitely got a lot of unnecessary hate though, alot of it was for binning off Tom for Katie as well but Tom was trash so

Sarah Goodhart (Ex on the Beach 3, Geordie Shore 14), Selina Waterman-Smith (The Apprentice 11), Jasmine Lennard (Celebrity Big Brother 10), Fran Parman (The Only Way Is Essex) and some other reality stars are apparently going to make a group for any reality TV contestants seeking a support network after their shows :(

In August 2017 Sarah Goodhart actually made a video hitting out at her Ex on the Beach and Geordie Shore producers saying one day reality TV producers were going to push someone too far and Sophie actually commented on it saying Sarah was right and that the Love Island producers had treated her terribly :(

Also, I really think this should put into perspective that it's JUST a TV show*, and the things that happen on it aren't all that serious - and that we don't really know these people. The Big Brother fandom in particular are the worst for their obsessive hatred of housemates, vitriol, stalking their old social media posts, trolling them post-show, etc etc.

I get that there's a legitimate argument to be said for "they know what they signed up for" but I think it's time people reigned in it a little. It must be really daunting to leave a reality show and have everything you've ever done, said or will continue to, picked apart constantly. I'm dumfounded by some of the stuff I read in the community sometimes...I'm like...it's not that deep.

This should be a reminder that these people are still human beings that have feelings.

*the paradox of course being that for the contestants, it's very much real life

Didn't something like 4 or 5 housemates suffer with severe depression and attempt suicide within a year of the show ending? Iirc Heaven was one of them but none of the others were named.

A gay person can't be homophobic wtf

Anyway I don't see why it's worth making Drama. It's tragic that a young woman took her life because of mental health (possibly caused by the pressures of fame and the media) - just respect that and leave her in peace.

Jasmine Lennard was her close friend and has gone on a MASSIVE rant about her death tonight:

She basically says Sophie depended on her parents financially following Love Island and they berated her for her sexuality and her mum was incredibly controlling over her life and she had to do what her mum said. Apparently she was an alcoholic and a drug addict and her boyfriend who also killed himself was a notorious drug addict. She said Sophie was on a massive drug bender for the weeks before she died and that she was meant to go on a getaway with Jasmine in the days before her death so Jasmine could get her clean but her mum and dad forbade her because Jasmine was also bisexual. Apparently it appears she died of a drug overdose but ALSO hanging so Jasmine and a lot of people think that is incredibly suspicious.
