Most of the butterflies seem to be white, I have seen two red admirals, not seen one of those for years, when I was a child, butterflies used to have beautiful colours what happened to them all

I know,I can remember brightly coloured ones, but as you say they all seem white but I have seen one coloured one, probably the same as the ones you've seen. Not seen many Ladybirds either.
Not sure if it's the same one, but I've seen an all White butterfly about 5 or 6 times this afternoon.

A council worker has accidentally hacked back an entire meadow being used as part of Sir David Attenborough’s ‘Big Butterfly Count.’
The worker was asked to mow a section of path on the wildflower meadow in Sidmouth by East Devon District Council, however he cut the entire nine acre site.
East Devon District Council was forced to apologise for the blunder.
