We will be 7 at Christmas so that will be ok. How about you?
I'll follow any rules we have been given but hoping to be able to visit and spend time with relatives thats what Christmas is all about for us

Usual 5 of us at home, hopefully we get to at least pop and see my Great Aunt (care home) by then, even if through a window or from afar for a short time. :fc:

I've worked the last two Christmases, so I'm hoping to have it off this year considering NYE won't be much of an event :(
If I have to stay at home then it will be three of us (best pal & big brother) but hopefully we can visit family and have dinner with them, etc :fc:

Normal for Christmas day itself, as for the rest..visiting, having friends over, going to markets, having our annual girls weekend away, I doubt any of that will happen but if its just for one year i can cope with that

No idea yet. But if I can't go visit family and friends on the day my son will love it. He always says he wants.to have the whole day in his pjs enjoying his new stuff so it won't be the end of the world if its just us. I can watch all the tv stuff and he will do his own thing I guess.

Exactly the same as every other Christmas - round the grandparents' with parents, aunt and uncle, cousins, and maybe great-gran :)
If they get charged a grand for breaking the rule of six, then whatever, that's nothing when divided by all us adults who'll be there :)

we never have too many people over at christmas anyway
so probably same as normal
i think the trump judge event has shown just how important it is to respect the rules that are in place at a given point. I already postponed my usual christmas travel to a point where we can all celebrate properly, which in the general scheme of things isn't that far off.

We are, but we all know what bitchy curtain-twitching neighbours are like
I suggested everyone come to mine, as it still technically belongs to my grandparents anyway and it harder to see how many are in, but no, Her Majesty wants her massive kitchen :hehe:
i have to say that i am not a fan of the authoritarian actions of the government at the current time, but i will respect the rules as long as I think its for the greater good of my fellow man and for the moment, it is.

Same as we’ve done for the past few years, at home just the three of us, we normally have my sisters over on Christmas Eve to give out presents, if that has the be missed then so be it

Normally I spend it with my granddad, but probably not a good idea as he’s 97. So I guess it will be different this year

I’ll stick to the rules, don’t want to give my loved ones a virus for Christmas
...what I don’t understand is...with Jeremy Corbyn, for instance..?...the rule of six obviously became the rule of eight for him...and obviously no fines were applied I don’t think because the rule of eight weren’t caught in the act of etc which they have to be...but those pics of that ‘flouncing’ as it were...so someone there took them and then publicly posted them to say hahaha, look at us, I mean they drew attention to it when no one would have known..?...I don’t understand, were people taking pics outside his window while they were eating or something...?...

Also no one cares because he’s from the Labour Party, if it was a conservative PM I’d have heard about it tonnes on here

It looked to me like a dinner party guest, who probably sold the picture to the press

Same with the Scottish MP...nada

...oh, so little choice of the amount of guests and contact we can have..and not even trusted guests were the ones chosen chosen...and the thought of that person ‘Selling’ and the media buying...when potentially they themselves could be responsible for infection which could possibly lead to death as the worst thing...incredible, they can’t even go to the shops to spend their money etc as a ‘reward’ for placing lives at risk...
something like the rule of 6 is obviously a guideline based on an arbitrary number, the intention is to stop large gatherings from different households, so the law will be more flexibly enforced. I personally see a big difference in impact/severity between an extra guest attending an event and someone willfully travelling on public transport after testing positive

...but it isn’t at all a ‘guideline’ if a fine can be applied if the police come a knocking while you’re having starters...which it can...

the police always have the discretion to issue a warning and only fine on repeat offences and that happens a lot. It's never black and white. Again, something like travelling on public transport after testing positive is a completely different matter

...oh that isn’t what was reported a few days ago with the Jeremy Corbyn/Stanley Johnson stuff when it was screamed...will they be fined etc...a police official..(...can’t recall who...)...said that the reason that they wouldn’t be fined is because a fine can’t be applied as an after the act...it has to be during and caught in the act...
...I’m not being difficult, I’m just not really understanding and so much seems to be confusing information...he says potato, she says potahto...

i don't think people should be fined at all personally, i think it's way over the edge in authoritarianism. Prosecute people who don't quarantine and let people live their lives

...but they are still fining and apparently on a first offence’ not repeat offence...which makes more sense anyway because ...because otherwise it’s saying...well, if you cause infection or even death to someone this first time, then think on, that wasn’t very clever... but we’ll give you a warning...but if you keep repeating those infections/possible deaths you’re darn well going to have to pay a bit of money...
we say we don't have enough police to handle serious crime and yet they are expected to fine households with more than 6 having a family dinner ... it's not even funny any more

We all have personal choice in this, we can't force others to do things they don't want to do, we all make our own choices and try and follow the rules as best we can...
we say we don't have enough police to handle serious crime and yet they are expected to fine households with more than 6 having a family dinner ... it's not even funny any more
...no it most certainly isn’t funny, bots...I agree...but it is as you say, not black and white because if we use the analogy of reckless driving and endangerment to lives...?...then a conviction and fine would apply but it isn’t something that can easily be enforced for sure...so far as serious crime goes, though...then obviously with the lives it’s taking before their time as it were ...and especially when ‘reckless’ can be applied also...then it’s surely right up there with ‘serious’ because this is all of our lives now...this is our new world that we never could have dreamed of...
