So im at the auction - yes its a big high ceiling barn of a place with big open
doors to outside and to a parking lot - no heating, wind whipping thru. SO we
all have to stand on designated spots 2m apart and the auctioneer goes thru
the rules at the start each week..dont follow the porter as he holds up the
lots, stay on your marker, if your lot is not for a while wait outside etc
Yet after like 10 mins i have people walking around standing next to me ,
trying to peer at lots behind me, talking loud with marks half off. Groups of
people outside all within 0.5m apart masks off smoking and laughing loudly,
talking close, coughing. People wandering around in close proximity to each
other invading their space, noses bare.
DO these people not watch the news?
No wonder infection rates are high when people ( and it was mostly men in
their 60s and 70s :umm2:) seem to not know we are in a pandemic. I was
dodging around, rolling my eyes, shaking my head and moving as twats were
like stopping right in front of me talking etc
unbelievable, i was livid.

Don't blame you LT.
My pet peeve at the moment is masks. People either don't wear them at all or leave their noses uncovered. For fooks sake. X

But they might have all been sticking tightly to the rules and only coming out for the auction with other trusted people.. so how can they catch it?

You should know by now what auctions are like.
People always want to get a second look at a lot.
Only way to minimise the risk is not mix with anyone.
Can I ask what you do when you bid on something LT?
Are you a rolled up newspaper wafter?

Well I’m in the auctioneers face he knows I’m there and I let others know I’m there.
Show other bidders you are there and if you want something you will go big.
I reckon I'd be a pointed finger and a wink type..or just panic at the stress of it all and go for a fag. Ir maybe bid on everything and just bolt at the end happy to have had a good day out.

They got your details and they will chase you, if the auctioneer don’t know you he may ask you for a deposit before the auction or after you have won the lot.

Sneaky.:fist:
What happens if someone trips and falls over LTs or your discarded whiskey miniatures and knocks an expensive vase over?

A wee box of miniatures made 90 quid last night but there were a couple of malts made over 300

I don’t drink so it wouldn’t be my whiskey.

Ok, what if they trip over your handbag.::shrug:
What happens ?

Wouldn’t make a difference how far apart you are if you’re all touching the same door handle to enter and exit. Don’t go to social settings if you don’t want to catch the virus :conf:

You break it you have to pay for it, but really expensive items are kept behind the counter or even n the safe and you have ask to view.

Well that "should" be a load of ****e...:smug:
Cause surely the actual auction of the item dictates its price.
Seems like a very judgy world to be in to me.

Auctions sell items of all values.
Auctions sell items of all values.
Yeah I know..
But I just find it unfair that the auction puts a price on stuff.

They can value items but the seller can put on a reserve and sum things make more or they make less
Something can not get a bid one week and make a massive amount the next time

I've seen Dickinson..I know all this..
But if your handbag was sticking out from a chair and I got my heels trapped in the red strap and fell into an object...let's say LT's treasured whiskey minatures for arguments sake. Sending them tumbling to the concrete floor of the big airy spacious high ceilings barn that we are on about... what;would happen then?
Apart from LT on all fours sooking like theres no tomorrow.

My personal rant is about queuing...there is a sticker on the floor,...bloody stand on it or behind it if you want more distance...not a few feet in front of it :fist: and arrows on a pedestrian street...one side is up...one is down...how difficult is it to follow...very it seems

That’s what hand sanitiser is for? Use it before you touch the handle

It's not social it's work
than work from home, via skype or facetime
but otherwise if you can't work from home, as long as you yourself wear a mask, it's ok, and don't worry about others around you (they also have that choice for themselves to make, wearing a mask or not)

People do make me laugh Cherie ,they want advice then when it's given they take no notice ,one minute they are moaning Boris is too soft ,the next he's been too hard, the mask thing is hilarious ,as people have said what's the point in just putting them on your mouth, people just want everything to suit them, it just cant happen.:wavey:

some mask advice i heard on our local omroep brabant radio yesterday
there was said, regarding masks
how you can best put them on, or using a paperclip if it irritates too much behind the ears
which ones are more comfortable, which ones work better
and how you can be more comfortable with one of those masks you can't breathe through (simple: you put a peppermint in your mouth, and immediately you get a lot of fresh air through your mouth)
i felt like i needed to share this bit of mask advice

My rant is restaurants, they want you to an use an app that don’t bloody work.
They bring drinks to the table food to the table, take the bloody order at the table.
I've noticed the french tend to wear thier masks under the nose.

oh?
yeah maybe those got special masks, homemade ones (i saw that too somewhere those are harder to breathe through)
cause the paper masks are very easy to buy, very cheap too and you can easily breathe through those, even with nose covered

Yeah there seems to be an increasing amount of peoole trying to get away with not wearing masks. And people walking too close behind or next to you in shops etc its really annoying!
