If he got so slim back in 2015 , why doesn't he do the same again? .

Too many seem to go for surgery as a quick fix, and that goes for both pre pandemic and post pandemic .

He just can not.

It maybe he has nothing to do.

Surgery is supposed to be the last resort, so I'm assuming he's struggling to lose weight this time around.

As a bloke in his 30's if he wants to lose weight and keep it off, he needs to build muscle above all else, and WLS is not going to help him do that, it's going to artificially reduce his food intake and if he doesn't eat exactly the right things he'll lose even more of it. He absolutely doesn't need a calorie restricted diet. That's not to say he doesn't need to eat less - he's probably eating way over what he should be - but he doesn't need "low cal". He needs to eat like a normal person with an emphasis on protein and healthy carbs, and build muscle mass. The fat will sort itself out. I honestly think WLS should be restricted to only the really extreme cases.

He must have some sort of eating disorder?

Gastric surgery rarely works, I've seen loads of fat tv shows and they almost always put the weight back on. It's a mental thing.. so the best solution is to work out a healthy eating plan/ excercise routine with a doctor and maybe get some therapy...

So you just answered your own question then?

As someone who reached well over 30 stone myself just over 18 months ago, I can only sympathise with him. It's such a struggle for some people and obviously he's at the end of his tether with having the surgery, I really hope it works out for him.

Thankfully the gym/walking/calorie counting worked wonders for me and I got down to 18 stone in 10 months but even I've put a little back on thanks to the stresses of the pandemic and various other stuff, it's a constant struggle. If you miss one day of focus it can honestly feel like you've taken ten steps back. I'm back on track though at last.

Good luck to him! :fc:
