My verdict on Brian

So, I've been on holiday and tonight was my first time seeing Big Brother and Brian as host. As most of you know I'm a huge Brian fan, so here's my honest verdict on his hosting :

I was really disappointed actually with most of it, it was very obvious he was reading the whole way through, it wasn't natural and it didn't flow well. He did redeem himself though in the interview, he seemed far more comfortable and relaxed. I really hope that he either deals better with auto cue next time or preferably they let him ad lib more (which would be my preference as I think that's where he shines)

What does everyone else think about it?

Locke. 26-08-2011 09:36 PM

He has done a good job presenting. Don't know about the interview I wasn't really listening

Jordan. 26-08-2011 09:37 PM

He's alright but I miss Davina now.

Zippy 26-08-2011 09:38 PM

wow Niamh

very impressed with your balanced view. I was expecting gushing acolades regardless.

and yes, I always said that ad-libbing in a house is worlds away from presenting with an autocue. Its a skill to make that look natural. Ant and Dec do it well.

CharlieO 26-08-2011 09:40 PM

He isn't that horrible and just bearable but noting compared to Davina.
The jokes are getting tedious.

I was only really concentrating on Brian tonight as I don't know anything about what's going on in the house, I hate having to pick it up in the middle :/

GypsyGoth 26-08-2011 09:41 PM

I agree about him making it obvious he reads the autocue. And like Zippy says it's a talent good presenters have to make it look natural.

But in a way he's better that I thought he'd be, although I suppose that's not much of a compliment, I reckoned he'd be totally awful.

So yea he's not that bad considering Davina's heels are near impossible to fill.

joeysteele 26-08-2011 09:42 PM

I like him on it, I feel he still has nerves at times, but he has got better from day one all through.

It's a role he is going to really grow in I feel and I think by the time we get to the main BB, he will be as near perfect as he can be.

Ryan. 26-08-2011 09:44 PM

He needs to be allowed to ad lib.

Well, I am hoping he'll get the hang of it cos I think he's great but he needs some serious practising with the autocue, definitely.

It was like watching two different people though I thought between the presenting and interview, he was the Brian I love in the interview :/

Saph 26-08-2011 09:45 PM

He's okay but I dont like when he says weird stuff, its unessesary.

Red Moon 26-08-2011 09:45 PM

I think we will all miss Davina she was just part of the big brother package for so long.

As for Brian he seems to get better and better as time goes on, although he has yet to put his own stamp on the show. He less nervous now, but he does need to learn to work with the Autocue and make it look natural. May be he just need to learn his script and use cue cards like Davina seemed to.

As for the interview I thought he did really well. He was given the write sort of questions, he delivered them with confidence and got good answers. You couldn't ask for much more on a first eviction show from a novice host.

That's what I'm hoping Joey

Brian's giving it his all, he seems more natural but will eventually manage without a script etc:).

Suze 26-08-2011 09:48 PM

I'm not a Brian fan at all. However, have to acknowledge he is doing his best, and I think his best for now isn't that bad and he will likely lose some of that nervousness and start to improve soon.

The boys doing fine!...As I knew he would!

We must all remember that Davina was already a seasoned presenter before becoming the queen of BB!
Give Brian a little time and he'll show us that BB has got a new Queen!

It has to be said that I have always been a Justin Lee Collins fan, and he would have been my personal choice as replacement for Davina, but failing that...I would have naturally turned to Brian anyway. And it would seem that it would have been the right choice!

Well Done Brian! :cheer2:

Cheers.

Yeah and I do hope that by the time the real Big Brother is on that he'll be alot closer to that goal, I'm so sure he's got the personality to make it his own, he does need some practise and perseverance though

dizzy bint 26-08-2011 09:50 PM

I thought he was really good. He made an excellent start with the launch show. The critics were very complimentary to him. He continues to build on that success.

He's doing as well as anybody possibly could considering the show had a very well known host before.

Considering it's only show number 3 he's really put his stamp on it. Well done Brian.

Novo 26-08-2011 09:51 PM

Well most of us did say Emma would have been a better host

Saph 26-08-2011 09:51 PM

I havnt heard anything from Davina :S Is she even watching?

He still has some nerves, it's a big project for him and he wants to do really well at it, he will relax and it will all flow for him soon.
Hi kazanne, it is fantastic to have you back on here again too.

It must be a whole lot of pressure for him, definitely. I missed the launch show unfortunately, but I reckon if he can relax abit with the autocue he'll be fine, you can tell he's a people person though, he changed completely to the Brian I knew and loved in the interview  I have faith in him!

Kazanne!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! where have you been!!?

Patrick 26-08-2011 10:01 PM

He was fantastic in the launch show - pretty stupid at the start - but then towards the end of launch he seemed to become more relax and you know, ignore the script.

But yeah and then it seemed as if tonight the producers told him to go back to the script and stick to it seriously.

And he sucked.

I missed Davina, My mum loves Brian and even she said 'What have they done to him?' it was just embarrassing to watch him - he made a dick of himself and I wish he would tell the producers to go and ****** themselves and just be himself.
