Welcome to the Top Song of 2020. A new decade, then! The world might have crumbled, but pop did not and neither did music on the whole. This might be one of the hardest years to pick in recent memory - there's no obvious frontrunner like Juice or Into You this time around.

If you're not sure of what this whole thing is, here are a few links to competitions of previous years:

RULES (For the Regular Competition)
- For the early rounds, you may only vote for a maximum of two songs per artist. This game gets quite boring when dominated by stans. This'll become defunct in the later rounds when there most likely will only be one per artist remaining in the game.
- You must have 100 posts to participate. I'm not allowing multis :nono:
- Most rounds are just to vote for your favourites, but some will require 'negative' votes. These should be approached voluntarily rather than as mandatory, and members should only vote for songs they actively dislike rather than ones they don't like/might pick tactically.
- The final will consist of ten songs that're ranked by everyone on the basis of "10pts for the 1st place", "1pt for the 10th place" and so on.

Songs originally released prior to January 1 - either as a single, or on an album released before July 2019 - have been removed.
Also, songs that have appeared in previous editions of this game cannot count.
And finally, re-releases of songs don't count (sorry, Mariah Carey and everyone else with a Christmas song), and charity singles can piss off as well.
To save the list from becoming too repetitive, artists are restricted to just their 3 highest-charting songs. In the event of songs charting at the same place, only the song that charted first chronologically was included. This rule has only affected Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, BTS, Eminem, Headie One and The Weeknd this year.

So here's how it will work..

PRELIMINARY ROUND I've compiled a list of 186 songs below, picked from singles that:

• Made the top 20 of the UK Singles Chart
• Made the top 15 of the UK Singles SALES Chart
• Made the top 15 of the Billboard Hot 100
• Made the top 10 of the ARIA Top 50 Chart (Australia's chart)
• Made the top 10 of various publishers' "Best of 2020" lists

Round 1: Out of the full qualified list, each member can choose their favourite TWENTY songs. The songs that get any votes will move onto Round 2. You cannot choose all 3 songs by an artist; a maximum of 2 per artist is enforced in the early rounds to keep it free from the pop stans :p
Round 2: 134 songs remain! Vote for your favourite FIFTEEN songs.
Round 3: 81 songs safely bypassed this round, whilst 39 others had to be whittled down to eighteen. Members were able to vote for their favourite seven and LEAST favourite two of this small list.
Round 4: Out of the top 99 songs, each member can choose their favourite TWELVE songs.
Round 5: Out of the top 66, each member can choose their favourite TEN songs, and also their LEAST FAVOURITE TWO. In both positive and negative voting, you can only choose one song per artist (unless it's one in each category).
Round 6: Out of the top 47, each member can choose their favourite EIGHT songs.
Round 7: Out of the top 36, each member can choose their favourite EIGHT songs and their LEAST FAVOURITE TWO.

- NO EDITED POSTS :oh: I am not going to check back on the previous pages for you if you've changed your mind, so if that is something that happens, mention so in a new post.
- Already clarified this, but please don't submit any songs by Ariana Grande, BTS, Billie Eilish, Becky Hill, Dua Lipa, Eminem, Headie One, Juice WRLD, Justin Bieber, KSI, Lady Gaga, Little Mix, Nathan Dawe, Pop Smoke, Sam Smith, Taylor Swift or The Weeknd. Unless they're features on someone else's song.
- It's probably wisest if you submit your songs in YouTube form so other members can check them out if they're unaware of them - this is more of a celebration of 2020 music that we might have missed than anything else!
