X Factor's Simon Cowell splits from girlfriend Terri Seymour

Simon Cowell and long-term girlfriend Terri Seymour have split, she revealed last night.

Pals say the couple, together for six years, had been drifting apart for the past two months.

Terri, 34, was notably absent when the X Factor supremo picked up a TV award this week.

She has now told friends: “We’ve split up. It’s very sad but we decided to go our separate ways. It just wasn’t working out between us.

“There’s no one else involved and we want to remain friends.”

TV mogul Simon, 48, is believed to have bought her a house in Los Angeles as a parting present.

The couple’s tumultuous relationship had recently been rocked by bitter arguments over his reluctance to wed and have children.

The thorny issue marred their Barbados holiday last Christmas.

In April this year their romance was reported to be at breaking point.

Ex-model Terri has in the past pointedly said: “I have known his thoughts on marriage and babies from the beginning. He doesn’t want kids, full stop.

“But I would love to have a baby in the future, definitely.”

However, Simon, who has an estimated £130million fortune, told the Mirror in March: “I don’t believe in marriage, certainly not in this business.

“The truth is that you get married and in a year or two they clean you out. It’s just not going to work.

“It doesn’t work. It changes you. That whole culture just puts you in a very weakened position.”

Two years ago Cowell hit the headlines when model Jasmine Lennard, 24, was seen leaving his £7.5million home in London.

The talent show supremo was also spotted holding hands and looking cosy with fellow X Factor judge Dannii Minogue, 36, after a night out.

Simon defiantly insisted: “If you work with cute girls you get that.

“But I don’t have to smooth anything over with Terri. She understands.”

Earlier this year Terri bought her own £2.3million home in Hollywood Hills, away from his £20million Beverly Hills mansion.

TV presenter Terri first met Simon when she was 18. But the couple struck up a relationship after she interviewed him for a show in 2002.
