27 december here in my nation there'll be a documentary about Peter R De Vries
Quote:
On July 6, after the broadcast of RTL Boulevard, an attack was committed on crime reporter Peter R. de Vries. Nine days later, he died of his injuries in front of his family in the hospital. In the days after the attack, there were statements of support from all over the Netherlands. The country was in shock. Ewout Genemans looks back on this violent period together with the children of Peter, Royce and Kelly in the documentary 'Standing on further life: After the murder of Peter R. de Vries'. And he also looks to the future together with them.
Ewout interviews relatives of Peter R. de Vries and speaks with those directly involved, such as his colleagues at RTL Boulevard. What happened that week? What impact did the events have on them? But he also goes with Royce and Kelly to the first hearing of the trial about Peter R. de Vries.
Ewout Genemans: "Peter has a huge legacy and leaves a hole that cannot be filled. Yet in the documentary we see how his children, in the spirit of Peter, try to do this as well as possible. For example, Kelly has become chairman of the De Gouden Tip foundation and Royce assists the Verstappen family in the Nicky Verstappen case. I am impressed by the strength of the family and feel honoured to be able to make this documentary with them."
The documentary Standing on life: After the murder of Peter R. de Vries is made by No Pictures Please and can be seen on RTL 4 on Monday 27 December at 20.30 hours.
