If it helps sweeten the deal, the torture scenes don't feature nearly as much beyond the first 2-3 episodes iirc. And in total fairness, the uncompromising brutality of those scenes really do make it all the more joyous when the lead character not only brings down her tormenters later on, but also rediscovers her humanity bit by bit and learns to let people in again. But yeah, even for someone like me who has a strong constitution for graphic violence in film/tv, the scenes involving that implement made me feel a tad squeamish. It was heartbreaking at times. My friend has introduced me to a few k-dramas recently, e.g., Moving, All of Us Are Dead, The Light Shop (Korea is a huge fascination for her). But The Glory has proven to be the most immediately addictive for me.
…I’ll definitely get back to it now with everything you’ve said…my friend has also asked a few times if I’d watched it because he was longing for some feedback for his recommendation and I did say that I was struggling with the extremity of the violence which for me…?…went hugely past bullying and into kind of horrific torture territory, you know….but that’s interesting (…and terrifying…)…that it’s based on a true story because it felt far too extreme for that to be the way…but definitely, knowing as well that it’s based on a true story…I’ll move it up the list and complete the watch fairly soon…and thank you for that…

…in your K-drama era, I would also recommend Little Women/the Korean version…that sounds a bit ‘girlie and a bit twee’….but I promise you a riveting/thrilling watch and version of the story…I loved it, it was one of my favourite watches of 2024….
