He wasn't really absent just playing a different game. He could still have gone home if all his players had been evicted in the first three evictions before the reset. You could also argue that he is already better then Will becasue Will played in season 2 where the game was new and the players unexperienced and also played in an All star house where his target was deflected by other huge players unlike Dan who is playing with mainly newbies
