They are a bit backwards but they are kept that way for a reason.
Its easier to control people when they are uneducated.
only 37% of americans own a passport they even restrict themselves to watching sports that are more or less only played in the usa
it is staggering how isolated they are kept and the scary part is they dont even realise it.
I am obviously talking in general no american would admit to being like that but its true.

i dont think its disgusting, it all depends what they believe in.
And i dont blame people for not liking atheism, because it is based off not believing in any god.
Therefore i dont think it's fair to go around telling people what they should not believe in.

I know some forms of catholic try to shove their religions down peoples throats, but its equal with atheists demanding to people what they shouldn't belive in and that "science" proves theirs no god, when really theres no connection between religion and evolution discovered ( you can believe in both of them, one doesn't prove the other one wrong)

Wonderful. Another "atheism is like ... totally comparable to religion it's just reversed!" argument.

I dont think religions should be shoved down peoples throats either!!
And i respect EVERY single religion, but im iffy on atheism because it is based on what they dont believe in rather than what they believe in themselves
I prefer - " no religion"

Isn't it a rather contradiction in terms to be saying in one breath that you don't hold any blame for others not liking Atheism, then in the next breath quote how unfair it is to tell people what they shouldn't believe in?

You are also quite incorrect in your statement over the Catholics. Their church does not allow their followers to preach this Religion.

And by the way- Science DOES prove there is no God/s . If you are insulted by others opines and beliefs then do it quietly. We are as much within our right to voice and debate as any other 'faction'

Science has not proven that God doesn't exist, it would be impossible to do so because God doesn't have a definition. God means a million things to a million people. God means the sun to some religions, God means the Earth to some religions, God means extraterrestrial beings to some religions.

If you can't even define what God means, then how can you prove that it does or does not exist?

I think you know exactly what I refer to. So, since we are getting down to picking bones...

I did not state that I can prove that God does not exist. I said science could.

God is a theoretical entity that is postulated by theists to explain various phenomena, such as the origin of the universe, the design of the universe, and the origin of living things. Modern science, however, can explain all of these phenomena without postulating the existence of God.

1. In the words of Laplace, science has no need of that hypothesis.
2 By demonstrating that God is not needed to explain anything, science has proven that there is no more reason to believe in the existence of God than to believe in the existence of phlogiston, the luminiferous ether, or Vulcan.

This may explain why more than 90% of the world's top scientists disbelieve or doubt the existence of God.

Scientists prefer natural explanations to supernatural ones, not because of any metaphysical bias on their part, but because natural explanations produce more understanding than supernatural ones. As Plato realized, to say that God did it is not to explain anything, but simply to offer an excuse for not having an explanation.

Hope this doesn't baffle you with science...too much.

Wow, what a disgustingly patronizing thing to say. Shame on you.

You don't understand people. You don't take culture into account at all, and that is why atheists fail.

Atheists fail to realize that religion is not just about explaining the world and explaining the physical plane, it's also about communities and cultures. It's sociological and psychological as well.

It's a bit low cutting and pasting the words of more learned people and posting them as you own without credit, and then saying you hope it doesn't baffle someone [else] with science... too much. Your entire post is a direct, word for word cut and paste job from secularhumanism.org.

"Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind."
Albert Einstein. Who probably knew a little bit more about science than most of us.

I think rk3388 is just repeating the nonsense that gets spoon fed to people in an effort to get them to dislike atheists even more.

It is sad that anyone who is not Christian doesn't have a chance becoming president, but hopefully that will change in the future.

Failed badly at the shedding light bit.

Hard to understand random illogical thoughts and bad grammar.

Atheism is no religion. The only people who turn it into a nice, neat 'system' of people are people like you.

If I'm an atheist I'm one by default because that's what the dictionary describes me as. Not because I conciously decided "let's be atheist". Let's go to the atheist club house and hang out and talk about atheism.

It's not a belief or adherence to anything. It's the complete opposite of that. Why would you be iffy about it just because they don't believe in anything? Do you think you need some mad belief in something spiritual to make life worthwhile?

Just ... mad really. I don't respect atheism but I do respect all religions. Even the many crazy ones that beat the shit out of women.

Or let me guess they aren't really religious and are misinterpreting your view of what it is so they don't count in your eyes?

Atheism is based on the belief that their is no god is it not ?
That means it can be offensive to others because it was made to oppose other religions
And course it isnt a religion
BTW PEOPLE CAN BELIEVE WHATEVER THEY WANT- i just think if people dont have a religion they should be "no religion"
Also i would vote for people regardless of their beliefs but im just trying to see it from the other perspective which no one else seem to do

Eh I don't really understand what you're saying, you seem to think Athiesm is another structured belief system just like Christianity, Islam, Hinduism etc. etc. battling it out for religious supremacy

Athiesm is "no religion", why on earth are you trying to make some kind of distinction between the two? It literally means "without Gods", what do you think is the difference between being an "Atheist" and having "no religion"?
