This has been going on for 50 years or more.
https://news.sky.com/story/live-gove...ision-11395521 [Key points: Government backs third runway at Heathrow MPs to be given vote by early July Group of Tories and key Labour figures opposed to expansion Boris Johnson vowed to 'lie down in front of bulldozers'] Boris said that back in 2016 [Labours John McDonnell MP : So that my constituents are fully aware I remain implacably opposed to expansion at Heathrow and after listening to the transport minister, Chris Grayling, today I am even more convinced that this would be a costly, environmental and social disaster that will never be built.] Will they get the vote through? depends on if the amount of Labour MP's back it, enough. Reports are saying. Last edited by arista; 05-06-2018 at 12:48 PM. |

Surely we have other airports we could invest in?

its a done deal, went through with a massive majority
The airports in every region need to be big enough to support the population and business around them. Its no surprise to me that heathrow is the ideal choice |

Even Gatwick only has one runway.

Jolly good

Expanding Heathrow is the obvious decision to me. It's the airport people want to use - a lot more popular than Gatwick or other airports. Building a new airport in the Thames Estuary would be more expensive, take longer and have a lot of risks attached to it.
Not building a new runway is not going to slow down climate change - passenger numbers are going to increase no matter what. |

They need to expand as well. The Heathrow Vote went through. Next its the the Local Councils Court Action, against it. Last edited by arista; 26-06-2018 at 05:59 AM. |
