Default How come BBUK has so many walkers and ejectees compared to BBUS/CAN/AUS

BBUK is always guranteed to have at least one walker/ejected per series.

When we look at other countries this is not the case...

BBUS has only had three walkers since its inception. (Neil, Dick and Megan) It has also had only four ejectees (Justin, Scott, Chima and Willie)

BBCAN on the other hand has only had one walker (Ramsey) and no ejections so far...

BBAUS has had five walkers (Belinda, Cruz, Rima, Josh and Nathan) and only two ejectees (John and Ashley) in just eleven series...

While BBUK has had 24 walkers and 13 ejectees, and BBUK has just one less series than BBUS!

So why do you think this happens?

the houseguests on BBUS and BBCAN are there solely with the intention of winning and getting the prize. They genuinely want to be there and so very few people break rules so that they can not be ejected or walk.

BBUK’s housemates often seem really happy when they’re evicted, as if they want to go

because the BBUS/BBCAN houseguests are boring and dull

You should watch more Nicky...

BBCAN 6 is OK, though the five before it are much superior...

BB12 USA has a mixed opinion, I generally liked it, if only the cast could be more diverse...

There's nothing to do in BBUK, they do tasks that don't usually mean too much and then wait for the public to vote

Not saying that as shade but people in there probably get sick of it a lot easier. Plus it probably has to do with production too.. it seems to be more accepted in the UK format.

You also should've mentioned that Megan, Ramsey, Dick and Neil all quit for valid reasons. Nobody has ever quit because of anything game related and those who threatened to do so (Audrey, Metta & Paulie) were talked out of it.

Other factors:

1. Nobody in BBUS/CAN would want to leave without any stipend. When I met Jun, she confirmed that all quitters lose their stipend.
2. Production will talk them out of it more forcefully than BBUK will.
3. Jun also informed me that BBUS/CAN contestants can be sued for quitting because it "tampers" with the production schedule. If someone was on the block and they quit the day of the live eviction and it's not DE night, they basically don't have an episode. If more than one person quit, that would then shorten things for another week. People may lose interest and thus ratings drop if people watch and see people quitting rather than getting evicted. A house guest would have to have a reasons that's at least as valid's as Megan's in order to quit without being sued. The same goes for ejected houseguests.
4. BBUK has aired over 20 celebrity editions and Celebrities are obviously more likely to quit because a stipend means nothing to them and they're not likely there because they're fans of the show. BBUS only had one Celeb edition and if they not even Metta would quit due to the risk of being sued, probably. America has 1000s of Z-List celebrities and if someone quits, they've basically told the entertainment industry that they're willing to breach contracts or are difficult to work with and they could potentially never get another endorsement again.
5. Robin Kass casts specifically to look for people who they know won't quit.
6. With BBUS/CAN not having any intruders or going into the finale with multiple people, it's crucial that they try to keep everything according to plan. With BBUK, they used to replace a quitter/ejected houseguests and now, if someone quits or gets ejected, they can easily fix that with having a finale of four people as opposed to five, etc, and there is really no loss.
7. With the format and how scheduling works, BBUS doesn't eject houseguests who say racist things or bully/intimidate people. BBUK has no problem dropping these types of houseguests because they make their houseguests replaceable or overloaded to where they can afford an ejection.
8. Americans view Quitting/Ejections can also be seen as "robbing" a position for someone who watches the show and wants to be on the show, so there's a selfishness associated with this. This is a big one for Survivor as well.
9. You look bad and are poorly received by the public, which is still important to houseguests. You're remembered as 'the person who quit" and as Jun said it, Chima basically told the world that she is someone who would willfully destroy someone else's property.

In BBUS/Canada, we've seen the plan for what happens after one ejection/quitter, to have two would really throw things off. Earlier seasons would've either cancelled a DE or had a bypass, making things more slow and more recent seasons would bring back people on top of their plan to bring back people.

Great post!

Really appreciate all the effort you put into them...

Didn’t Megan quit due to something game-related. AKA her PTSD which IMO was triggered by the game...

I know Neil quit due to a family death, Ramses for a family matter, and Dick for medical issues...

BBUK tends to cast more unhinged people so that explains the ejectees. Walkers I guess are more inclined to do so as BBUK is less of a game so there's no real "superfans" who are determined to win.

Theres more stimulation for the BBUS/CAN houseguests. They are playing a game and actually have a lot of conversation that comes from the gameplay side of things and how events/competitions turn out, whereas BBUK rely purely on personal chat/typical chat which can numb the housemates minds.

There are also completions every other day and no outside contact that makes it less of a mind-****.

They aren't paid much to be there, so if you know you have no chance of winning there could be the temptation to walk. There's no jury to even aim for. Barring some lucky twist the only person who takes home money is the winner.
