In school I borrowed 40p to get the bus , I spent it in the vending machine , the guy immediately demanded the money back.

Not a row as such, but many moons ago I was on holiday in Portugal, sharing a pool house with four other guys, one of whom was notoriously cheap.
We drove into the nearest big town one evening, searching for a restaurant for dinner.
I saw a menu on a restaurant window which had cataplana, (a Portuguese speciality), for X escudos, (I did say that it was many moons ago).
I said, “Looks good, what’s the consensus?”
Cheap friend said, “I’ve seen a restaurant where it’s about ten pence cheaper.”
There was a chorus of, “Okay Bob, we’ll be in Os Arcos (a Portuguese bar), after dinner, catch you later.”
He had the raving zig for the rest of the holiday.

Group of us as teenagers were out drinking, we ended up back at one guy’s house, HE OFFERED us some biscuits and we ate a couple of ginger nuts each… as we’re leaving he says, “right I need 5p per biscuit from each of you” - we thought he was joking - he was not and says “my mum will be mad if they’re not replaced” and starts getting really angry. So we each had to give him 10p - 20p… total of less than £1.

It was honestly like a weird dream it was so surreal. I’d probably think I did dream it as it was so long ago, and I was pretty drunk at the time, but one of my old friends brought it up recently .

Not really a row but my housemates sister in law came round one day t visit and brought a packet of biscuits, we made tea, had a biscuit and when she left she took the remainder of the packet with her

No wonder if you conned it out of him saying it was for the bus then you spent it on sweets

When travelling with a French guy in Australia, who was ridiculously frugal, didn’t want to contribute to the repair on my car because he was already paying me petrol money and it wasn’t his car.

Well, if it wasn’t for me driving you and me about all the time to pick grapes then you’d have no money. I was only asking for a contribution.

He was also the type who’d give you the exact money, rather than rounding up.

He did my head in at times.

…I can’t recall ever having one….but a money ‘pet hate’ which doesn’t really happen anymore …is large groups going out for a meal../…like a work related thing…and having the bill worked out to the exact amount…rather than just split (..however many ways and some would give a tip and some wouldn’t.…)……it doesn’t matter if someone had a dessert and someone didn’t or if something was a bit more expensive or etc…or what people had to drink….


…I do recall something a long time ago which I wasn’t a part of because I’m not a wine drinker….but it involved how many glasses of wine and did someone take a bottle home oh my Lord etc and Peace treaties had to be signed eventually….

I get what you're saying but having been on the other end of I do understand why people get a bit tetchy about it. When we go for a meal with work, I tend to drink beer and just have a pizza or something and we always just split the bill. A lot of people will have steaks, wines and then after dinner spirit drinks so a £6 pizza and a couple of beers ends up costing me around £40+

Haven't really had any but I did go out for drinks with some colleagues a few weeks ago at Spoons. Because the ordering is all done on the app you get an email for each order and I was checking my emails the next day and I'd spent about £80 buying rounds. I knew I'd spent a bit more than the others because some people were making excuses (can't get the app to work etc) but we had maybe 7 pints and I'd paid for about 20

Normally would just make a mental note not to get screwed over on the rounds next time and I know it happens to everyone sometimes but I mentioned it to another girl at work who then had a go at the others on my behalf lol which I sort of appreciated but also made it a bit awkward with it looking like I'd been having a big bitch about it

…it’s a weird one isn’t it……(…in my own experience, although as I say it’s been a few years since a bill was done this way for a big gathering…)…I’ve often been the ‘money gatherer’ for some reason, it’s not something I’ve volunteered for…and people would give me what they had spent etc…and then when it came to hand over, I never had enough…so I would pay the difference plus the tip…so some people must have been quite naughty or quite bad at maths…

…now with large gatherings…(…obviously we haven’t had on recently but…)…the meals are generally paid for in advance directly to the restaurant….

A friend refunded me £3 less than what I paid him for a hotel when I couldn’t make the trip. Also gave him the tickets I paid for the gig we were going to, expecting him to sell them on to the other person going in my place and give me the money. Never spoke to him again lol.
