Why does your rugby team have a different national anthem to your football team?

I thought that was probably the reason, but I thought you didn't get along with the North enough to be on the same team, I always thought the rugby team was a Southern thing. You live and learn.

Many sports are organised on an all-Ireland basis, for example American football, basketball, boxing, cricket, curling, Gaelic games, golf, hockey, lawn bowls, korfball, rowing, rugby league and rugby union, in which case the international team is usually referred to simply as "Ireland" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-Ir...0%22Ireland%22.

Also it's the Republic of Ireland not Southern Ireland, the most Northern part of Ireland is in Donegal which is in the Republic of Ireland
