Roger Cicero was born in Berlin on July 6th, 1970. His debut album Männersachen was released in 2006, followed by the 2nd album beziehungsweise (2007) and Artgerecht (2009). His favorite discipline was always performing live supported by his fabulous 13-piece big band. He enjoyed various big sold out tours including numerous Jazz festivals. The album In diesem Moment was released in 2011 and Was immer auch kommt in 2014. Roger was part of the very first TV show of “Sing meinen Song” (2014) and became host of the German Jazz Echo Award (2015) supported by Gregory Porter. In 2015 he released The Roger Cicero Jazz Experience, a straight Jazz album based on some of Rogers favorite pop songs as well as the live album Cicero sings Sinatra with some famous guest stars. He was a huge Frank Sinatra fan and he managed to find his own personal approach to this legendary music. Roger passed away in March 2016 at the age of 45.
Back in 2009 he recorded the highlights from his first two albums in English and in 2021, five years after his passing, his team decided to release The English Album. During his career Roger received several awards, including twice the prestigious award Echo Pop and finally the Echo Jazz for his outstanding performance as a musician. In March 2022, the movie CICERO will be released, which will reflect both lives of father Eugen Cicero and son Roger Cicero. Numerous interviews with contemporary witnesses reveal many parallels between those two exceptional musicians.
