What is in Jeremy Hunt's
Autumn Statement? [National insurance cut: Ł5bn a year The headline rate for employees is being reduced from 12% to 10%, putting more hundreds of pounds in the pockets of 27million Brits. For the self-employed, Class 2 contributions are being abolished and Class 4 contributions reduced from 9 per cent to 8 per cent. Making 'full expensing' permanent: Ł10bn a year Businesses have been benefiting from rules that mean they can claim back tax on investment in plant and machinery. That is due to end in 2026, but Jeremy Hunt is set to make it permanent. State pension to rise 8.5%: Ł2bn The Chancellor is sticking to the triple lock that ensures pensions rise by the highest out of inflation, average earnings or 2.5%. There had been speculation a lower level could be used due to NHS pay deals warping the numbers. Benefits to rise 6.7%: Ł3bn Mr Hunt had considered increasing benefits by the lower October inflation figure of 4.6 per cent, rather than the September number usually used. However, he has opted to stick with convention and push for more people to re-enter the workplace. Living wage to rise to Ł11.44: n/a The national living wage will rise by 9.8% to Ł11.44 in April. The rate is currently Ł10.42 for workers aged over 23, but the new figure will apply to 21 and 22-year-olds for the first time.] https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...shi-Sunak.html Last edited by arista; 22-11-2023 at 02:01 PM. |

This utter BS coming from Hunt and the government to get the long term unemployed and disabled on benefits 'back to work'.
Most of them have never been in work to go back to it. And what are these jobs they're going to do?Hunt said work from home. Work for who? Where are these jobs??? Who hires? No mention of it. And what if these people fail at the job. Are they fired, or they entitled to go back on benefits? The whole thing is ill thought out and makes no sense. You can't force people to work for an employer. Who wants to hire someone who doesn't want to be there or do the job. And are they qualified to do the job???? Madness. |
