But, the psychology of fear has a way of spreading itself around. I think that's the biggest concern with these events. We're very busy with hurricane cleanup and restoring our power, we don't have time to get wound up over national politics where we are. It's a bit of a blessing. But my city is not prone to rioting (knock on a forest) and other reactionary behavior... 99% of the people arrested are out of towners who come to stir **** up with the local angry mouths who hug the TV camera wherever it goes. And those people will always exist, it's not a left or right thing... some poeple are just dipsh*ts.

Not that they're all anti-American, but that they represent themselves, their party, their own objectives... much more than the country they love itself.

If he were to do something counter to this sentiment, that would be the only way he loses support, imo. So imo, he sees a wider range of support. The thing is, many people are "asleep at the wheel" with regard to politics atm from exhaustion... but seeing this, they will more likely step out and get engaged or at least, be more aware of what is happening politically... their eyes more wide open so to speak... it's a very good thing, but it's also not for the best of reasons obviously... ymmv, I don't claim to speak for every person, but just have noticed we all have certain instincts when it comes to representing our country... which is a very different animal than our associations to "society", or even "a culture"...
