…have I missed something or was yesterday the first time that we were seeing/shown what other housemates seem to be totally familiar with because of their frequency…?…this is surely a huge part of showing the anxieties that Ali must have felt in there with how those anxieties are projecting in her dreams…and yet, it’s felt entirely focused on ‘red witch Ali’…with very little balance shown of vulnerability and fragility…

Her brother died the year before bb

she talked about it at the beginning and this show was her way to bring some joy back to her family

That's what her dreams are about so she is missing comfort and home and feels like there is no where for her to go for this

Yes it seems that conversation has been dismissed by some who only want to get at her and only see negatives to her.

It explains quite a bit actually and was for those who were open to seeing it, a revealing conversation between herself, Khaled and Martha.

…I do feel personally…and it is just a personal thought…that Ali’s ‘late in life lesbian’ has maybe been that her brother’s death and the fragility of life etc..?…has determined her that she’ll live openly who she is and not live to expectations, type thing…I recall reading that she hadn’t felt that she could be open about her sexuality when she was younger…the family tragedy would have re-assessed so much in life in trying to find a place for and make sense of it all…

I think Ali's brothers death has spurred her on to do a multitude of things, such as come to terms with who she is, do something spontaneous like Big Brother despite feeling so far out of her comfort zone. I think she's doing BB to disrupt her life in a positive way following realising how life is too short and I think that's amazing.

That's a fault in general society. People feel the need to live up to certain expectations for fear of non-acceptance or being shunned. Sometimes certain events in your life change your mindset. Obviously I can't speak for Ali. Live your life how you want to live it I say. As long as you're not hurting anyone else in the process just be comfortable in yourself.

And if you can make someone else happy in that process then it's all good.

…yeah, I think so too, tbh…all of what you’ve said…I know that BB is out of everyone’s comfort zone but I think that Ali is someone who isn’t prone/or hasn’t been prone to pushing herself out of her life comfort zone’s very much …but her brother’s death has obviously turned her world upwards and sideways, has yet it….its also interesting that she has the job that she has and that’s kind of fitted with her ‘analytical self’ if you like….but her real dream is just to run a coffee shop/bar, which couldn’t be more removed…but an indication that, that’s the Ali she most wants to be but hasn’t been able to get there yet…

…it’s really difficult for some because we all feel similar to you but circumstances/environment/expectations etc can so often lead to lives that don’t express that …which can then lead to so much unhappiness….’be yourself’ is the hardest thing for some, sadly…

Big brother has always been a roller coaster ride of emotions it can make the hardest person crumble but it’s always be billed as bigbrother is always watching you and there is no where to hide
We saw marcello, do everything he could to hold on to his emotions in the voice recordings yesterday

Losing a loved one is hard even harder if they have taken their own life, there will always be the questions of could you of helped prevent it or did more when they were alive

…I understand that you have great affection/admiration for Ali, Zizu…but isn’t that one of the biggest things in her going in there …‘that don’t look back in anger’…/type thing…holding on to resentments hurts no one but you…/…it’s a self harm thing…and we only live with housemates for a few short weeks each season…don’t lose sight of the people here around you that you spend each day with…BB season can get crazy but it’s not personal against each other…please don’t allow that to be in your thoughts……

See having great resentment for people expressing a different opinion than yourself on a person that you clearly find attractive and are willing to ignore any of her negative traits is something that’s your problem

It was far more than her looks though!


I resent being forced to stop watching and actively contributing on the series not for the reason you said .


I initially fell for her looks as I am a sucker for a pretty face ( beautiful in Ali’s case ) BUT grew to absolutely love everything about her .. her own issues plus her brother’s back story made her more appealing.. sadly the constant stream of vitriol aimed at Ali forced me away from the series I was addicted to for the first two weeks.

It’s totally unrealistic to love everything about a stranger from watching them for a few minutes a day over a two week period to love everything about them

People are always going to disagree with each other
You have taken things to heart and far too seriously
With love for Ali and your hate for those that have given negative opinions on her
This forum is very inclusive of everyone, but part of life is accepting offer people and their views

Big brother is pantomime heroes and villains, this time hopefully next year there will be a new set of heroes and villains just like last years lot
