Big Brother lifts Channel 4.com traffic
Channel 4.com was the UK's fastest-growing website last month thanks to Big Brother, the latest comScore statistics show, recording a jump in traffic of more than 30% in June compared to May.

Attributed to interest in Big Brother, the figures show Channel4.com rising 32% from 3.54 million unique users in May to 4.66 million in June.

Guardian Media Group, the publisher of MediaGuardian.co.uk, saw a 14% month-on-month increase to 4.3 million unique users following a search engine optimisation drive, and Facebook saw a 6% rise to 16.13 million, according to comScore.

Virgin Media and Reed Business Information both saw a 5% rise from May to June, up to 5.16 million and 2.43 million unique users respectively.

Google's sites, including YouTube, remain the most popular website in the UK with an estimated 30.61 million unique users.

Microsoft's online network, including content portal MSN and the Hotmail email service, are the second most popular with 28.12 million uniques in June; and eBay third, with 21.06 million.

AOL, which now includes the popular social networking service Bebo, jumped from 12th to sixth place with around 17.08 million unique in June.

ComScore uses a panel-based measurement system to estimate web traffic, excluding web cafes, universities and schools and web users under 15.

As a result comScore's user figures often vary considerably from results produced by the Audit Bureau of Circulations Electronic for UK national newspaper websites, although trends in the rise and fall are fairly consistent.
