Default Seal Protection Vs. Seal Slaughter

Seal Protection Vs. Seal Slaughter

_____________________________

I am very much against seal protection. That's my opinion.!

and why, well because my dad is a fisherman, and seals eat their own body weight of fish A DAY. so that equals a lot of fish.

It is decided in parliament that these laws should come into force to protect seals, but it's the same as fox hunting, MP's have no clue on what their laws are actually doing to the economy.

I also feel that a lot of campaigners don't know the damage that seals can do. and that many just think of them as big cuddly toys!!

What's Your opinion? Seal Protection Vs. Seal Slaughter?

Majority of seal slaughter is not for fun though, it's done seriously to protect the fishing industry!

Exactly, what have the seals done to deserve this? They haven't attacked humans they are just trying to live, so we should kill them for eating? That's a bit selfish of us... there are more animals on this planet than just Humans, we can't just take complete control over the world because we are the most powerful, with that power comes responsibility to not kill everything on the planet.

Seal protection. It's ridiculous to kill them just because they're eating fish.

With regard to the fishing industry I can see your point and you point out its ok to kill them because of the damage they do!!!!!!!.......Humans do damage in the course of survival should we kill them too!!!!!!!

Seals are part of our planet and as such should not be regarded as vermin just because they want to survive like we do.......Like any living creature does...

Another point is the manner of their slaughter is down right barbaric.......

You mention fox hunting. Well foxes are hunted for the sadistic pleasure of the hunters and no other reason........

Fox hunters argue they are providing a sevice by killing foxes.........No. That is just their way of trying to excuse a barbaric activity......If there was and is a genuine need for a fox or seal cull then it should be done humanly by specialists and not idiots on horse back or barbarians with clubs killing seals....

I am not normally as moved as I was watching seal culling last week on sky news. I was deeply distrubed watching grown men chase seal pups and clubbing them to death. My issue is with the way they kill the seals, surely if they MUST do this then there has to be a more humane way to do it? Why do they have to be subjected to such horrendous beatings when there is just no need?

Are we talking about Canada? Because that is done for fun.

They beat them with pieces of wood with nails in them, and a lot of times the seal doesn't die, and has to walk around with a board hanging out of its skull.

Animals should be killed humanely.

The seal hunts in Canada are done as a brutal tradition. It is not a necessity, and it is the most horrific sight imaginable.

Killing animals isn't fun and neither should it be approved of. Animals live and breathe just like humans do (obviously not fully live as we do) and just because we are a superior race doesn't make it acceptable to hunt them and kill them.

Agreed a shot to the head would surely be better? Its simple and they wont know anything has happened.

You could hit them about 20 times before the seal becomes unconsious and if they are only little they just wont know whats going on.

I think they are doing it that way
due to costs.
If they use anything else it will cost cash.

It is Death by Clubbing hard
they do not have time or people to stop
it being filmed.

This is all about Income
money is the Evil, here as well.

I find the way seals are killed inhumane, but do you really think they would be killed in such high numbers without a very good reason? I take the view that we, humans, are the dominant species for a reason, so why shouldn't we exert power? Not to say that I think "let's kill all animals" is a good thing, but I think that seals, like deer or rabbits, need to be culled in certain areas for the people who live off those particular plots of land to live. It's all very well for us to comment on seal culling, but for anybody who lives in a coastal town - how annoying are seagulls? Or for those of you in London - pigeons, do they ever get annoying? Anyone had any experiences with rats or mice?

I'm in favour of protecting seals from inhumane death, but I think they still need to be culled - why would they be killed in such high numbers, if there was no need?
