Roll With It
Day 4, 20:45 We're only four days in, but without prompting, several of the housemates have already settled into certain roles in the House. Gos has taken charge of the cooking - hardly surprising given he is a chef - Nush has taken the welfare of the chickens to task, Jon seems keen on his storytelling, Sissy likes to do a spot of organising, Ray has taken to mowing the lawn and Federico amuses himself by flirting with the lasses or teaching people a spot of Spanish. So far, it seems a House in harmony, with everyone discovering their place and happy to settle into a routine. Perhaps these keenly defined roles are a good thing. Imagine, for a moment, that these fledgling jobs were to be reversed - it could all go horribly wrong or it could work a treat. As the old saying goes, heaven is where the police are British, the cooks are French, the mechanics German, the lovers Italian and it's all organized by the Swiss. Rearrange who does what and things start to go belly-up! A Scotsman and his hat So, applying the same reversals of type to the housemates, how would Gos get on as the House storyteller? And could they rely on Jon to do all the flirting? Perhaps Nush would be better off preparing the food, Sissy could make a name for herself as the House mower, Federico could get his feet dirty in the chicken coop and Ray would be better off organising everything. Of course, it's far too early to tell - there are bound to be more than a few twists and turns before we can safely pigeonhole the housemates in such a way. That said, one thing's for sure - Gos is certainly a blinding coo |
