Two school girls have turned up to their school prom in a helicopter.

The 16-year-olds initially wanted to travel to the event in a limousine, but had to change their plans when they found out that they were all booked up.

However, Chloe Webb and Lauren Huggett were desperate to make a special entrance, so Lauren's father paid £500 ($775) for the hire of and half-hour ride in the Robinson R44 twin-engine chopper, in which he also travelled.

The eight-mile flight took the girls from their homes near Stroud, Gloucestershire, to the venue on Friday (June 29).

Chloe said of the experience: "All our friends were really shocked - they could not believe it. We landed on a patch of grass right next to the tent where our prom was taking place."

The pupils of Archway School were attending their year 11 prom and were extremely excited about the journey as they had never travelled in a helicopter before.
