It’s exactly a year, since Big Brother returned to our screens in August 2011!

So, today marks exactly one year since the Launch of Celebrity Big Brother and Big Brother on Channel 5. After Channel 4 axed the show back in 2009, and ended the show with Ultimate Big Brother in 2010, Channel 5 signed a deal with Endemol to air the show for two years.

2011: CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER 8 AND BIG BROTHER 12



On August 18th 2011, Channel 5 launched their first ever series of Celebrity Big Brother, complete with a new House, New Eye, New Spin-off Show and New Presenter! The series kicked off with an outstanding rating and line up with stars such as TOWIE’s Amy Childs, Kerry Katona and Tara Reid. The series lasted 22 Days and was won by star of My Big Fat Gypsy Weddings, Paddy Doherty.

Following the final of Celebrity Big Brother, Channel 5 launched Big Brother 12, on Friday September 9th just a day after the final of Celebrity Big Brother. Brian Dowling introduced, Aaron, Aden, Anton, Alex, Faye, Harry, Heaven, Jay, Louise, Maisy, Mark, Rebeckah, Tashie and Tom. On Day 42, Jem was introduced as a new Housemate.. Faye’s Sister! The Series came to an end on November 11th (Day 64) where Aaron was crowned winner.

WINTER 2012: CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER 9



Following a successful two series in 2011, Channel 5 launched Celebrity Big Brother 9 with a Bang. The title sequence and eye logo were slightly modified for the series where a new batch of Celebrity Housemates such as Denise Welch, Andrew Stone and Frankie Coccoza. The series lasted 23 Days and was won by Denise.

SUMMER 2012: BIG BROTHER 13 AND CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER 10



Big Brother returned on 5th June 2012 for the 13th regular series of Big Brother, and Channel 5′s second regular series. The series logo received a multi-coloured makeover! The series introduced a whopping 16 Housemates on Launch Night, and a Wildcard on Day 4. The series ended on Day 70 where Luke A was announced the winner. Following the Final, two days later the currently series of Celebrity Big Brother kicked off.

Can't believe there have been 5 series within 1 year, as much as I still love and enjoy Big Brother ever series.. I do think it is becoming a bit too much and it is over-kill, especially for the general public who aren't as big fans. Viewing figures for CBB8 compared to CBB10 show a massive drop in 1 year!
