The tables have turned and Dancing On Ice hosts Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley will be getting their skates on for the show’s last ever series – providing Jayne Torvil gets her way, that is.

The presenters have steered well clear of the rink until now but Torvil and her pro partner Christopher Dean think it would be a fitting send off.

Dean, 55, said: ‘It would be a real shame if the show’s hosts Phillip and Christine didn’t skate at least once.

‘If we keep saying it would be nice to see them on the ice then they may feel pressured to do it.

‘I think Christine would be up for it, the problem is convincing Phillip. Come on Phillip – do it.’

A show insider added to The Mirror: ‘Phillip is a good sport. I’m sure he won’t let us down.’

I'm sad too that Dancing On Ice is ending It's my favourite show and it's going to be odd when there's no Dancing On Ice next year.

I've heard that Torvill and Dean have hinted Dancing On Ice might be back on our screens at some point in the future.

Phillip Schofield to get his skates on and take to the rink for last ever Dancing on Ice show

Host has avoided skating in the past citing injury fears, but he's determined to give Dancing on Ice a big send-off

Phillip Schofield will strap on some skates for the first time ever on Dancing on Ice later this week.

The 51 year-old presenter will take to the ice for the first time since he began hosting the show nine years ago, in a bid to give the DOI an exciting send-off.

Phillip will be joined on the ice by his co-host Christine Bleakley and the panel of judges according to The Sun, including Ashley Roberts and Jason Gardiner, as they've all been taking part in secret training sessions.
