Default The loan system - time for reform?

There's something very creepy and sinister about Chelsea loaning out 20+ players this season. It feels like big clubs are hoovering up the talent and withdrawing them from the market unless it's to send out out on loan and control other clubs's team selection. It feels tactical eg as if Chelsea could dictate team selection of the other club. What if Lukaku goals had resulted in Everton pushing Chelsea for third CL place, would Mourinho dictate that he stop playing to prevent Everton overtaking Chelsea?

This dominance in loan system came back to bite Chelsea on the bum as Lukaku's successful shipping off to Everton indirectly helped result in Chelsea not scoring enough goals to win title and then there was the Atletico Madrid goalkeeping fiasco where Mourinho almost pretended not to know that players are not cup tied internationally on loan.

The parent club should have no say in team selection of loanee club, so if it goes against the parent club eg Thibaut Courtois, then it's too bad.

I don't see a problem in a player being loaned out and unable to play against his parent club. It'd make things a tad uneasy on the player you loaned out upon his return if he were to cost you the title,

I like the loan system as it helps out the smaller teams, and as a Birmingham fan I don't think we would've stayed up this season if it wasn't for Man Utd's Macheda.

I don't have a problem with loans but it needs reform. If a player is on loan to a 'new' club that's a rival to or in domestic competition with the parent club then that player shouldn't be cup tied. I liked the fact that in CL Chelsea thought they could dump goalie Courtouis at innocuous Atletico Madrid and it wouldn't come back to haunt them. This should be extended to league/ domestic games so a loan player can still score or goalkeep against his parent club. Jose Mourinho is now like a wounded boyfriend begging Courtois to return.
