The Sun, I am told by my Dad has never supported Labour in an election. It swas behind personally Blair in 1997,2001 and 2005 but I don't believe Labour as a whole.
It was not behind even John Smith as Labour leader before his death which then saw Tony Blair take over. Then Mr Murdoch and the SUN decided they liked cheshire cat, smarmy,Tony Blair and supported him, not really the labour party in 3 elections, and I actually believe too had Tony Blair still been leader and PM in 2010,the Sun would probably have at least been neutral as to him again since they supported him on the Iraq issue. The moment Gordon Brown took over in 2007 the Sun started to really criticise again, and in 2009 declared its support for Cameron and the Conservatives. I have never looked at it as anything but a biased paper, just as the Mirror is to Labour too,I just get sick of supposed 'news'papers telling us how we should vote and for whom too. Especially from their biased positions. the Sun also doesn't seem to like leaders from Scotland or Wales really, so unless a leader has an English seat, that may be another prejuduced stand the Sun takes. I hate this publication with a passion, it would be in the fiction area of publications for me or even comics,(well in truth it wouldn't exist if I had my way),maybe not a comic as sadly some of the stands it takes are far from funny however. She looked so hot and elegant, and oh so 'posh totty-ish' in those specs, that i couldn't care if she didn't let them speak at all and the camera stayed on her all night.

Cameron has been very canny in his wording in articles and again last night he accused Ed of putting his hand in peoples pockets, and has used the term 'pickpocket' to describe taxation.
Is the bedroom tax not pickpocketting? was forcing those on benefits to pay council tax not pickpocketting? was raising value added tax not pickpocketing? Was the attempt at a 'pasty tax' on cheap warm food not pickpocketting? ( before the bung from ginsters and greggs)

So it's more important to analyse what they didn't say rather than what they did say?... That seems like fuzzy logic to me.

Okay she had a time schedule to stick to but it was really annoying. I think she was one of the reasons the whole thing was rather lack lustre at best. She certainly failed to encourage 'real' debate in my view. |

I agree,I am surprised no one mentioned VAT, espeically in relation to Nick Clegg, who in the 2010 election promised his party would never support a rise in VAT. To be fair to all politicians, they cannot rule out rises to everything, however experience has it that the Conservatives have regularly increased and extended vat whereas Labour have not. In fact I believe Margaret Thatchers govt; was the first to increase vat from its introduction, near doubling it from 8% to 15%. |

as you may have noticed I detest new labour and think miliband will be as bad as blair
but I must say some of camerons display last night worried me, especially the part where when challenged he would tax the disabled by sturgeon he just went quiet. it reminded me of the time they debated abortion in the house and amidst all the disgusting heckling he laughed sat down and simply said oh I give up.....there was a moment or two where I thought does dave really want this anymore? |

We have however been told that the voters will not be told by him and George Osborne until after the election, what the cuts will be in welfare and where they will fall. Almost 12 billion of them they are going to make and it has to be from the disabled for to reach that figure, as they have ruled out any alterations to pensioners, rich and poor or the extra benefits and payments to same. This should really worry everyone that believes in any kind of fairness and yes, his silence actually spoke volumes. |

She is right, this govt;has also.like others, not looked after military personnel who need help.
In fact what this govt; has in fact done to defence and the forces overall leaves a lot to be desired and to many that should be a massive surprise from a Conservative led govt: This is why more debates were needed so that people could challenge on these issues and at least get them raised. After this again, no wonder David Cameron feared doing them. |

I don't see the need for any further debates. I didn't learn anything new from the first 2 events, and we know pretty much what each party is going to do:
Labour ... make a few small cost savings and raise taxes Tories ... cut public spending lib dems ... do pretty much nothing apart from fiddle about UKIP ... leave the EU and generally create animosity in every direction. People can argue the toss about the benefits/disadvantages of any of the strategies till the cows come home, but no party will commit to details on cuts/tax hikes for the next 5 years. I think the reason most people don't know who to vote for is because whatever choice is made its not going to be pleasant, debating it for weeks isn't going to change that until we have a surplus of cash, and people feel secure again.
