Just a ploy to get impressionable people to join his throng.

Tell people you can 'get drunk' on that crap, surround em with others already apparently 'converted' and use peer pressure/conformity principles to hoodwink them into thinking they too are 'intoxicated'. Hey we're all acting like idiots, why aren't you ? Standard cult induction nonsense.

No is the answer to that.. he's either acting or just plain barking mad. He doesn't come across as barking mad in other ways, so I assume he's acting.. I think his family might know him slightly better than us faceless names on the interwebby thingy and as such they will be proud as punch of him

They would also be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt as opposed to automatically get on his back for simply having a belief in anything as some have
