Whiteboards are genuinely more effecient in modern day teaching then blackboards. Using chalk on a board can be seem by some to be outdated. But many people now use interactive boards which do not require any pens.

I have three neices aged 9, 7 and 3. They've all sung Ba Ba Black Sheep at nursery, the youngest one still sings it. There are black kids at the nursery. In what dimension could a "black sheep" have anything to do with racism? They love fairy tales, especially the scary ones, kids love to be scared as far as I can see. I would think the whiteboard thing is more to do with virtually every school using whiteboards and not blackboards any more, rather than being some kind of racial epithet. That's just "PC gone mad"-gone mad.

It's certainly true that more people are measuring their words more carefully. I don't think that is a bad thing. Why upset someone if you don't need to?

I do think some people take it too far though, when people just use common phrases and have no racist intention, but a minority group might find a twisted way to take offense. Like the recent "chink in the armor" controversy over NBA star Jeremy Lin. The idea that you can't use a common english phrase with no racist implication, but some over sensitive minority group wants to find a reason to make headlines, that is ridiculous.


But in general people of a majority population should try to be as sensitive as possible towards minority populations.

But some minority "activists" will always be screaming about oppression and victimhood, unfortunately the media subscribes to a policy of "the squeaky wheel gets the grease".
