Well yes, the outright denials.

But, the 'bat theory' interests me. As does, the behavior of various governments. Saying ours took advantage of the situation to shovel off money to mates, and ****ed the country even more by doing so, then went OTT with restrictions to try and cover up this fact..is not the same as saying its all a scam. But that, is put in the same bracket..

Well, it probably did come from a bat because they're a big ol' hive of coronaviruses, I'm just like 99% sure it was a bat they were studying in their biotech facility specifically in relation to viruses rather than some random bat burger.

I also don't think it was deliberate/a bioweapon, I think they had lax containment standards, were studying viruses, and someone ****ed up.

Pretty much my thoughts really. Its too..convenient. BUT, its possible it was a random wet market cross contamination colossal **** up. That seems less likely to me than a mistake made in the lab though really.

Of course, a mistake could never be publicly admitted. Tbh those facilities scare the crap out of me speaking generally to start with! And I don't think they should exist at all..as its a nightmare waiting to happen in my mind. So I might be a bit more...hysterical in thinking towards them!

Looking into previous 'mistakes' made with such places, its not too much of a stretch either. Seems there is not too much thought for safety, or actual following the procedures they are meant to..especially given the stuff they work with sometimes!

Mind, a degree of human error will always be expected in any system that involves..humans.

I believe this article was the first of my rabbit hole trip that lasted for weeks.

https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/2...bird-flu?__c=1

And scared the absolute crap out of me. 200 tabs open, no sleep for days, reading in absolute horror that such places existed outside a zombie apocalypse game..

I think this should be a giant sized wake up call for what could happen in the future. It's unlikely that governments will have learnt any lessons, but they should have

Our government got the report back in January 2020 I believe, detailing how bad it would get, yet they didn't act until March when things were getting out of control. No preparation, no pre-emptive action, nothing. Most other countries would have wanted their leader's head on a spike for such incompetence but we just accept it, cus it's Boris. It makes me sick.

I suspect it will last 'forever' really. Though will become less of 'an issue' the more vaccinations and such are done and the more its understood and studied. Its never going anywhere though, realistically.

Yeah, the lack of holding to account is just..weird.

Meanwhile, I saw many many posts about 'it would be worse with corbyn!!!'...while..absolving boris of any blame at the same time. I mean, its ridiculous to blame him FOR the pandemic, I agree on that, but the bungled response to it? 100% him (and his party)

Someone else might have done just as badly. And if they did, they would also be held to account.

It not even really a 'with the benefit of hindsight thing' either...given the same mistakes have been repeated OVER AND OVER. One **** up, yeah fine..unprecedented situation, etc.. Every decision (seemingly) being a **** up? Not so much.

"Unprecedented times" is one phrase I would gladly never hear again. Literally everyone has used that excuse for everything since March....wages late? Unprecedented times. Parcel not arrived? Unprecedented times. Appointment cancelled? Unprecedented times etc etc.

Other other phrases I hate are "new normal" and "stay safe"' I've been guilty of using both and they both make me cringe

Haha sorry. I actually agree. But it WAS a decent excuse at one stage. Now though? Like hell is it!

One year on and in the midst of the 2nd spike, the nhs still runs, and has as yet not been overwhelmed, I believe that was the governments plan from the start after knowing how bad it was going to get...they are still achieving that.

Its workforce, however, well one can only imagine how overwhelmed they are personally.
