Large crowds expected at protest against sexual violence Large crowds are expected at a demonstration against sexually transgressive behavior on the Museumplein in Amsterdam on Saturday afternoon. The reason behind the "No blame, but change" demonstration is the abuse surrounding the TV program The Voice of Holland. Organizer Foundation Wij zijn M calls on victims of sexual violence and those who oppose it to come to the demonstration. "It is really great that so many people want to join," director of the foundation, Mandy Sleijpen, said. It was unclear exactly how many people would join, but police anticipate "thousands of people." The foundation pointed out that sexually transgressive behavior occurs continuously, but many are not aware of this. According to the organization, awareness surrounding this topic has to be spread. The moderation of the protest is in the hands of comedian Karin Bloeman. Also speaking at the demonstration will be actress Fatma Genç, criminal lawyer Richard Korver, PvdA MP Attje Kuiken, FNV vice-chair Kitty Jong, Amnesty International director Dagmar Oudshoorn and chair of the foundation Together We Rise Sara Aloui Dekker. The demonstration which starts at 12 p.m. was supposed to take place on Dam Square but has been moved to the Museumplein due to the expected crowds.

https://nltimes.nl/2022/02/02/two-th...assment-street
Two thirds of young women face sexual harassment on the street Two in three young women were sexually harassed on the street in the past year. Men whistled at them, called after them, and sometimes chased them, according to figures from Statistics Netherlands (CBS) on Wednesday. The surveyed teenagers and young women, 12 to 25 years old, often ignore the harassment. Whistling is the most common form of street harassment, the researchers found. Half of the young women received unwanted whistles at least once or more. Calling and shouting are slightly less common at about 40 percent. According to the young women, being chased is the most threatening form of street harassment. About a quarter of them experienced this in the past year. Young women aged 18 to 21 are most likely to be harassed on the street, with three-quarters experiencing harassment in the past year. Among teenage girls between 14 and 18, that's 70 percent. One in three men has experienced street harassment. This more often concerns teenage boys than young adult men. The figures on street harassment refer to the twelve months prior to completing the survey. CBS held the survey between February and mid-April 2021. Over 8,000 young people completed it. more exposed now, all thanks to the truths been let out of the pit, and this pit seems like a bottomless pit, in terms of abuse of power, and sexual harassment ----------------------------------- alumni from the voice can't release new music for time being here, and are not allowed to perform at any concerts (home concerts included)

https://nltimes.nl/2022/02/07/voice-...onduct-reports
The Voice: 5 sex crime charges; 20 misconduct reports So far, the police have received five charges of sex crimes against persons involved in the TV program The Voice of Holland. The police also received 20 reports of possible inappropriate and sexually transgressive behavior about these people. The police did not say which persons from The Voice were involved for privacy reasons. The case about the RTL 4 program came to light through an online broadcast of program BOOS last month, in which maker Tim Hofman spoke about sexually transgressive behavior behind the scenes of The Voice. Nineteen women spoke about misconduct by band leader Jeroen Rietbergen, fifteen about a director, and two women filed charges against coach Ali B. One of those charges is for rape, the prosecutor said in the episode. Former coach Marco Borsato was also accused of groping. In recent weeks, dozens of victims of sexual abuse or unwanted sexual behavior reported to the police. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) is assessing these reports but cannot yet say when this will be completed. "In the coming period, victims can still come to us with their story," the police stressed. "We see that a broad social debate started about sexually transgressive behavior. And that it started a movement. The vice squads are receiving more calls than usual. It is not only victims around the Voice of Holland who find their voice. Most calls have nothing to do with that program. This involves, for example, reports of assault, rape, or sexual abuse that happened years ago." The police are making a distinction between charges and reports. A report does not usually lead to a criminal investigation, but charges can result in an investigation led by the OM. When the story about The Voice came out, Rietbergen resigned as the bandleader. Linda de Mol's now ex-partner acknowledged that he had relationships of a "sexual nature" with women involved in the program. Ali B. denies the allegations. He also resigned in the meantime. The director, against whom two women pressed charges, also denies the allegations. RTL 4 decided to remove the program and announced an independent investigation with the producer.

one more the voice alumni now in trouble with the law
Glennis Grace and her son assaulted supermarket employees https://netherlandsnewslive.com/glen...uarrel/362621/ Glennis Grace spent two nights at a police station in Amsterdam, where she is currently still detained. The 43-year-old singer was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of, among other things, assaulting supermarket staff. Her 15-year-old son and a third person are also incarcerated for that reason. The police have not formally confirmed that it is Glennis Grace. Her lawyer Kerem Canatan did just that yesterday. He told ANP news agency that the singer has pushed a supermarket employee, but that she does not recognize herself in the accusations that she has kicked and beaten. and this is a funny picture going around on social media's now 4 the voice coaches being treated like criminals summary so far: - Marco Borsato: accused of sexual abuse, and of inappropriately touching adolescent girls. - Ali B. accused of rape and sexual misconduct. - Glennis: in custody at the police now for attacking and threatening supermarket personnel. - Lil Kleine: arrested after repeatedly abusing and beating up his girlfriend. This week he dragged her out of his car by her hair, and then stuck her head between the car door, and pressed. And The Voice of Holland was (temporarily?) cancelled due to inappropriate sexual behavior by the band leader and a producer. mess

singer, actress Ellen ten Damme accuses Ali B of sexual misconduct Singer Ellen ten Damme accused Ali B of sexual misconduct, saying she wanted to support women from The Voice of Holland who had previously come forward with allegations against the coach and rapper, as well as others involved in the show, according to AD. Ten Damme said she was the victim of Ali B’s sexual misconduct eight years ago in Morocco, where they were recording for the music program “Ali B en de Muziekkaravaan.” The 54-year-old singer alluded to the event in a television broadcast on Friday evening and expanded on the subject in a podcast episode that was later cut. Ten Damme told interviewer Özcan Akyol on the show "De Geknipte Gast" that she had had a “similar experience” to the women of The Voice, who came forward earlier this year with allegations of sexual and power abuse on the show. Although she did not mention the rapper’s name in the television interview, Ten Damme talked about the incident in an episode of the podcast “Aan de Keukentafel” last month. The part of the podcast where Ten Damme mentioned Ali B was later edited out, but AD has the original recording. In it, the singer mentions a “story” about the rapper related to something that happened in Morocco. “There is a story of mine that was not a secret at all and that I also told those around me at the time,” Ten Damme said on the episode, according to AD. “It’s about Ali B. I really think he's an asshole.” Ten Damme said she was not sure how to respond to the event at the time. However, she has now made a statement to the police about the incident. “You are confused and wondering: what am I supposed to do with this? And he acted like nothing was wrong,” she recalled on the podcast, according to AD. The rapper Ali B acted as a coach on the television program The Voice of Holland. In January, an official complaint was filed against him for sexual misconduct. In an interview with De Telegraaf, Ali B said he was innocent. "I am 100 percent convinced of my innocence. The allegation is about something that happened long ago and that is not true."

RTL's content director Peter van der Vorst confirmed that reality musical competition show The Voice of Holland “will absolutely return” to the Netherlands. The show was indefinitely suspended in January 2022 following serious allegations of sexual misconduct and abuse of power by jury members and The Voice's bandleader, dating back to 2018. “It will likely take about a year and a half, but we still need to finalize the timeline,” he added. RTL is aiming to re-launch the reality show in 2026. “Next year would be too soon because we need at least a year to prepare the program. We are currently brainstorming on how to bring The Voice back and refresh the format,” Van der Vorst elaborated. He said the concept needed to be locked down before production can begin. The internationally sold format was developed by Talpa and is broadcast in the Netherlands on RTL. An extensive criminal investigation was launched into the misconduct. Despite the serious allegations, the case against the bandleader, Jeroen Rietbergen, was dropped due to a lack of evidence. Rietbergen was married to Linda de Mol, the sister of Talpa head John de Mol. He was central to allegations about promising he would help contestants advance in the show if they engaged in sexual activity with him. John de Mol was widely criticized for simultaneously claiming he has an open-door policy to field complaints about his business operation, while also seeming to place the blame for The Voice scandal on the victims. One of the show's coaches, Ali B., was also named in allegations, as was singer Marco Borsato. Ali B. was recently convicted in a separate sex crimes case. Victims´ lawyer worried about the show`s comeback Attorney Sébas Diekstra, representing several alleged victims associated with The Voice, expressed “serious concerns” about the show's return. He stated it should only happen after “a thorough and independent investigation into the misconduct” is conducted. “We have seen that such an investigation has not taken place. The criticism of the investigation that did happen was devastating. Both supporters and critics agreed on that.” According to Diekstra, an independent investigation should also focus on “the management’s role.” He added that the results should prompt a complete overhaul of the support and aftercare system for contestants, including necessary rules needed to prevent the show environment becoming unsafe for the contestants. Diekstra continued by noting that many former contestants are still afraid to speak out about their experiences, which means there is no clear understanding of the full extent of the issues within the production. However, he acknowledged that several of his clients view the show as “a beautiful and important concept” for artists. RTL has promised to approach the show's return carefully. “The Voice remains a very strong international format, and we’re hearing from viewers that they want to see it back. [...] We will carefully evaluate all aspects, including content, coaches, and the team, to ensure a safe and supportive environment for everyone involved in the show, as well as address all other issues related to its return.”
