I don't think her sexuality has much to do with it

So if that person is not getting enough clicks or feels excluded, they shift the discussion further and further away from the edge than what they would normally believe that feeds into other missed needs. Because everyone does that at the same time in unison, it lends itself to an increasingly hostile environment in the long run and thus the edgier content begins to thrive and track more often... not making it a very fun experience overall.

Of course actual edge cases (or headcases) grab onto this and it helps them to feel validated in whatever crazy views they've always held. The ones that really understand the platforms and how they function get to capitalize and people are being manipulated constantly to accept whatever nonsense views they spew as "mainstream"... I really recommend to spend as little time scrolling such feeds (outside of curious sleuthing) if you're a generally reasonable person.

Algorithms are effective because they're addictive. When you have Americans trending because they're getting piss mad over something the Royals did/didn't do and non-Americans are following US elections so closely they can practically predict emerging talking points just by gut feel, it's frightening. That just shows how easy it is to manipulate people into changing their behavior and thinking by just having them follow a concept... and note whatever it is about, no matter how minor, how tiny, it somehow must connect to some much larger (translation: more relevant) puzzle that must be solved... like it's the biggest deal in that micro world...

Most every new site/forum/community that becomes stupid popular follows this lifecycle and this is why... eventually the users who fish for engagement milk the content until there's nothing to milk, then the life cycle for organic discussion suffers. It becomes a self-fulfilling process after a while... Social media is the "cure" to lack of content since it's seemingly never ending. It's actually better when a site isn't so popular anymore because it's not the most convenient feeding ground for the elusive clout and thus maintains a little bit of its original shine without being completely consumed by modern internet culture.

On topic: Ali is not a racist. There's other more prominent traits we can pick out and fuss over. This is not one of them. I think if she's off the show, she's probably not so overbearing and we see a milder side. But that is the appeal of the show, seeing these shifts in character. Some people take it way too seriously, but I doubt they mean even a small percentage of the tripe they're posting. Challenge them in person and most will crumble.
Well thought out post. I agree with a lot of it

Yeah exactly, it's deflecting. We love to judge others without taking a look at ourselves first

I am truly disgusted by some people, without derailing just look at Liam Payne, Caroline Flack

I’ve been so concerned with Ali’s wellbeing after the show when she’s informed of all the hate directed at her that I raised the matter on this very forum a few days ago.

I stopped watching the show after last Friday’s eviction program as I was getting stressed seeing her so ill at ease and unhappy ( hiding her true feelings) .

Most of the hate can be found in this very forum although its just a handful of people who relentlessly post negative comments about her each and every post day after day

Awh, that's a shame.

I know you have tried to support her massively, but people will be people.

I do tend to go against the grain with people, especially when there's so much hate directed towards them.

The best thing that could happen imho is for Ali to put her mental well-being first and walk out the back way .. it would also give the producers something to think about as they would be losing their most IMPORTANT character … and viewers

It was a poor decision to go into the house in the first place imho

I don't want her to leave, but I'm probably thinking selfishly there.

The show wouldn't be half as good without her. I wonder what we would watch

It needs someone prominent to quit to remind the production team that they have a duty of care ..

I have to admit, I'm not finding Ali's interactions entertaining now, so I'm more intrigued than worried about what the show would focus on next should she leave.

There does seem to be a binary thing too which I am guilty of - for example, like Ali, really dislike Khaled/Marcello and vice versa. I haven't seen many, if any, who say they like at least two of them. I've seen some who don't really like any of them.

Saying that, it has got to the point where I'm struggling to see any redeeming features when it comes to Ali as a Housemate. As I said, ithe situation is becoming difficult, rather than entertaining, for me to watch now.

Given everything we know of Ali and what we’ve seen .. I feel certain that she is positively hating her time in there and I would be amazed if her girlfriend and family are not in discussions with the production team as regards getting Ali out of this worrying situation .

Ultimately Ali will have the final decision but she’s maybe not the best person to decide

I'm similar tbh.

It's why I've even tried being more supportive of Marcello recently, because some people have taken their dislike of him too far imo.

I have no idea how she is coping in there ..

Just shows that she is indeed a strong woman

I think it terms of the production team etc it wouldn't surprise me if they don't have things in place - we just don't get to see them. Given what has happened on other shows and just in general in terms of the limelight etc people themselves have seen what can happen. How people can be edited to look a certain way. How things are 24 hours and only go into 1 hour ish of main show. That is the risk people take and should be made well aware of before even signing up to these type of shows.

Even if they had basic 5 minute daily chats with each of them:
1- How are you feeling today?
2- Do you have any concerns?
3- Do you wish to continue your time on the show?

It will more likely be when the crowd is heard - cheers/boo's/mix of both or maybe the chants get x out. But that is a thing for every housemate in there.

Anyone who is smart will have a code with family to say that Auntie Dottie the 2nd has passed away so that is a clue to walk. Either for their own MH or cause they are being portayed in a way which doesn't reflect them.

I also think about Khaleds mental health and Marcellos as both have said they have felt down and Marcello said he has felt like crying.

I'd question whether the show is for you then.

What exactly would we be watching if it wasn't for Ali?

Well maybe other people feel stressed and uneasy, how do you think Khaled feels constantly picked on by her for just breathing .
