Sir Bradley Wiggins to record single with two members of The Jam...
Sir Bradley Wiggins is set to join Paul Weller and Bruce Foxton, two of the stars of 1970s band The Jam, in recording a single.
The Tour de France winner and Olympic hero is a well-known fan of Weller, nicknamed ‘The Modfather’, and performed an impromptu version of Jam hit That’s Entertainment after winning the Sports Personality of the Year Award last month.
And now there are plans to involve another Foxton, The Jam’s bassist until their split in 1982, in recording a song with Wiggins.
The recording is set to take place at Weller’s studio in Surrey, and Wiggins, who will be on guitar and later feature in a video with the pair, will also be joined by music veteran Steve Cropper and singer Russell Hastings. They will perform the track Window Shopping, written by Foxton, and performed by his current band, From The Jam.
A source told The Daily Mirror: “Bradley is due on a training camp abroad on the afternoon of the session, so he is doing his bit first thing.
“He will be joining his boyhood heroes, Bruce and Steve, on guitar with a small cameo, and as well as lending his studio, Paul will chip in on instrumentals, while Russell will be on vocals.
"Bruce and Paul are getting on really well and, although there are certainly no immediate plans for a Jam reunion, stranger things have happened.”
The members of The Jam went their own way after an acrimonious split, and have not performed together since. But Weller and Foxton have reconciled in recent times, and recorded together, which has led to whispers of a full-scale reunion in the future
