Man legally changes his gender to identify as a woman 'so he can retire five years earlier' in Argentina
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...e-earlier.html

Quote:
  • Tax worker Sergio Lazarovich, 60, recently changed gender to become Sergia
  • Change meant she could retire immediately instead of in five years' time
  • A relative has now come forward to say Sergia does not truly identify as female
  • She has spoken out against gays and transsexuals in the past, relative says

(Weird error by DM...?)

An Italian government worker who recently changed gender to become Sergia Lazarovich did it so she could retire earlier, a relative has claimed

An Argentinian tax worker who changed his gender on official documents after claiming to identify as female actually did it in order to retire earlier, a relative says.

Sergia Lazarovich, 60, a government worker from the northern province of Salta, applied to change her gender in June last year, having lived for decades as Sergio.

The change was approved recently but a relative has since come forward to accuse Sergia of lying and trying to cheat the pension system.

Argentinian law allows any person to change their gender on identity documents to match their self-perception, without having to provide evidence of hormone treatment or gender reassignment surgery.

The law also allow women to retire on a state pension aged 60, whereas men have to wait until age 65.

The relative told Informate Salta: 'His conviction is that it is unfair that, because he is a man, he has to work five years more than a woman.

'He has been working on this for more than three years and was advised by lawyers and the first plan was to make a complaint to the State citing discrimination.

'But it was an option that could have taken many years and no one could guarantee that the court would rule in his favor.'
+3
Argentinian law states that women can retire aged 60, while men must retire aged 65. Changing gender means Sergia is eligible for retirement now, instead of in five years

Sergia has been in multiple heterosexual relationships including with the mother of her two children to whom she was married for 25 years.

She has never expressed an interest in men, and continued dating women even after registering for the change, the relative said.

Sergia has also never expressed an interest in living as a woman before and even made disparaging comments about gays and transsexuals, the relative claimed.

Confronted by the statement, Sergia accused newspapers of printing lies and said the decision to change genders was personal.

'The motivations are mine and I do not have to explain anything to anyone,' he told the El Tribuno newspaper.

Officials in Salta said Lazarovich has not yet applied for the state pension, though confirmed she would be eligible to do so.

Once the application has been received it will be forward to lawyers to decide whether the claim is legitimate, officials added.

I'd never heard of being able to retire earlier if you are female... that's a new one for me. But not surprising... ppl lie on their taxes, so makes sense they would lie on other govt forms too... seems like it would be easy to abuse if it is just paperwork.

Kind of like how ppl here put down their status as a minority to get grants just because they have some far off ancestor in that category.

If he is within the law then Good Luck to him.

Because I am 'Sall this elf-Employed' I could not do the same but wouldn't anyway - I LOVE being a big macho man (even one past his 'sell by date' )

Well why wouldn't he retire 5 years early? Now he has 5 whole more years for leisure activities, like going in women's toilets and changing rooms.

...

In all seriousness though, it's daft that women can retire earlier than men there anyway. I mean, don't women on average live longer? They should retire later if anything

Although I seem to remember it being the same in the UK once upon a time? Women were 60 and men 65? I might be imagining it though.

People who have hobbies that they love but jobs that they hate.

I agree that retiring without multiple hobbies is probably a bad idea. As is retiring if you like your job. But if your job is overly stressful or boring, you get no enjoyment out of it, and you can afford it, then retire ASAP

[edit] Oh and of course, company is important too, I wouldn't recommend anyone leaving work if they get social interaction there and lack it elsewhere. Too many sad ol' chaps in the shop for hours putting on 20p bets, spending maybe Ł4 all day, because they're only really there for the company of other regulars . Although there are loads of them and they've all known each other for decades so I have no idea why they don't just go and do something ELSE sometimes .

My old man was never happier working and speaking to people, he semi retired and worked at the Wallace Monument for years speaking to tourists and telling them all about Stirling, he loved it, he hated having to give it up.

But I agree with all of what you said

Wiley old beggar. Not really old at 60.
I think its good that we have equality in pension age, I think it's even better that you can retire at 55 on a private pension..if you can afford to.

Woman have been entitled to retire before men in the UK for generations, and it doesn't reach full equality for some time yet, so for gentlemen of a certain age, it must be worth considering this still in the UK

Retirement is what you make it. If you want to vegetate in front of the TV that's your right. If you want to be active in mind/body, retirement doesn't stop that

Shouldn't the trans community be up in arms about this? Or do they only care about semantics? I've seen a lot of outrage from trans women... but I predict they will remain silent about this.

What about if a ship is going down and there are just a few lifeboats and some bloke sticks on a dress and demands to get a lifeboat space?

It could happen

Me and 8-year-old were watching Titanic (she's become obsessed with it ) and she was like "Oh nooo daddy we'd have to get on a boat and leave you behind"...

...and I was like "Nah, they let Cal on when he pretends some random kid is his and he's her only carer, so your mum and sister would get on a boat, and we would wait a few minutes, then run up and I'd be like "I HAVE A CHILD! I HAVE A CHILD!" and we would get on too, and we would all pretend not to know each other until we got to dry land."

So I had that scenario covered anyway .

However...

1) They don't do "women and children first" any more,
2) Passenger ships aren't allowed to sail unless they have adequate lifeboat space for everyone on board

... so neither of these situations shall ever come to pass.

IF this is true then it's gross since it undercuts trans issues as a whole, IF it's true.

It's kind of silly that there's different ages of retirement though for the genders, what's the point? Make it 60 or 65 for everyone.

But yes, ridiculous that in this day and age anyone would be left without a space

...well in the UK it is changing to be the same for everyone, but it aint 60 or 65 it's ****ing 68 for everyone born after 1960 and it'll probably keep going up. If there's a state pension at all, that is...

I think its daft that women can retire earlier anyway, so I cannot blame this guy for doing what he can to have fairer treatment

Used to be the same here too, but its equal now. Infact there were 2 reasons the GRC was brought in...for equal pension rights, and so that transsexual people could marry someone of the same sex (as it was brought in before we had same sex marriage)
