After seeing people cry woke over the GTA 6 news (GTA could never be woke since you can go around shooting and beat up people) just feels anything these days is called woke when it's really not. People have issues with POC and LGBT getting TV/Film roles and it's called woke because the cast isn't all white.

I think it's similar to the term Mary Sue - both have actual and valid uses, but both are waaaay overused. I'd say the same about terms like "incel" or "alt right" to be fair. And, ironically, it's gotten to the point where someone who uses one of the first two terms (validly or not) gets branded with one of the latter two
