Default Jailed :Woman who procured drugs to induce an abortion after the legal limit.

BBC News Text :
[The Jailing of a Woman who procured drugs
to induce an abortion after the legal limit.
Campaigners and MPs have strongly criticised
the decision to prosecute her,
the paper reports]

The Judge would have let her off
but she failed to plead Guilty
early.
She lied to get the Drugs
during Lockdown.

With 3 kids already
Jail was wrong.

Hard Judge.

Debated early on GMBHD itv

[A mother-of-three has been jailed
for more than two years for inducing
an abortion after the legal limit.
Carla Foster, 44, received the medication
following a remote consultation where
she was not honest about how far
along her pregnancy was.

The "pills by post" scheme,
introduced in lockdown,
allows pregnancies up to 10 weeks
to be terminated at home.

However, Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court
heard the woman was between
32-34 weeks pregnant when
she took them.
Abortion is legal up to 24 weeks.
However, after 10 weeks the procedure
is carried out in a clinic.
Prosecutors argued Foster had provided
false information knowing she was
over the time limit and had made
online searches which they said
indicated "careful planning".

The court heard between February
and May 2020 she had searched
"how to hide a pregnancy bump",
"how to have an abortion without
going to the doctor" and
"how to lose a baby at six months".]

I don't really get why she should avoid jail or prosecution tbh. She made a very deliberate and calculated decision via deception to kill a very advanced baby. It's a tragic story but what she did was seriously wrong and can't be allowed to happen again

She took the pills on May 10 at 32-34 weeks so she'd have been 24 weeks before we went into full lockdown. There was ample time for her to access abortion services before then imo, those pills aren't supposed to be taken later than 10 weeks which would have been in January

I'd like to know the whole story before I judge her. I'd like to know where was father of these kids?

I read he was with her in court so absent father is not an issue here

I would like to know the full story as well but 33 weeks is late to do that, it's a proper baby at that stage

I'd still like to know more. It says in the article that a number of women and girls are facing the trauma of lengthy police investigations and up to life imprisonment. This woman would have had to deliver the baby dead or alive. It's such a dreadful story I wonder where her brain was in the decision she made.

A baby born at 33 weeks is viable, and would have 95% survival rate.

It's literally murdering a baby.

I would say her children were at serious risk if she was prepared to take that action at that late stage, so even if she escaped jail, they should be removed for their own safety

Already being a mother to three kids, you have to be seriously mentally unstable or evil to kill your unborn child at that stage

Sure
but she needed help
all that became online only
Poxy Lockdown

and minimising face-to-face appointments
had changed access to healthcare and

So should she have killed one of her other children because nursery or schools weren't open? Would make things easier, no doubt.

so maybe she should have killed that one then, if fewer services were open?

Using the lockdown as an excuse to murder her youngest child isn't on.

No surprise MP's criticized her prosecution.
Abortion up to birth has already been made legally permissible by our friends in New York, Canada and Australia and there's huge support in parliament for us to go down the same evil path.

We have free contraception, morning after pill, and abortion up to 24 weeks what the hell was she doing, she researched it all as well so it wasn't a spur of the moment thing
