Government Committee
has told us.

Well that's Fine
I am in the Half of the nation
that will not burn money for Labour
and stay with a Normal Boiler.

Lads fit that one for that rich couple.

And everyone should be driving electric cars by 2030.

Labour will be long gone and there'll be some other unobtainable plan.

We've been considering solar but honestly the fact that it would take DECADES for it to be any sort of financial saving ... I mean I know it's good for the environment etc. as well but being realistic.

I have to say i absolutely love our heat Pump, it's much better than any other system I've used and I've used pretty much all of them over the years. It wouldn't be efficient though in any house that isn't extremely well insulted so can't see how it would work for a massive chunk of people/houses

Aside from the insulation problems, not everyone will be able to afford one.

I would imagine to even come close to making this happen they'll have to start doing them for free / massive discount schemes, much like the various "window replacement" schemes there have been.

It can cost more to get your home sealed from leaks

Depends on the style and age of the building really, some houses are easy to insulate, others need more specialist/expensive work. Also, "cheap and cheerful" insulation can end up doing more harm than good over time, because if it's not installed properly it can wick dampness in from outside. Happaned in my previous rented house - they had a total cowboy put in loft insulation, he stuffed it in too close round the edges and it was pulling water IN from the gutters into the loft. Then they had the audacity to try to blame us for "condensation" when there was damp round the edges of the upstairs .

The government here give grants to upgrade to a heat pump but the house has to meet a certain BER level so again back to insulation issues, they do do grants for insulating lower BER rated houses too though, so it would be a journey

i think with the potential for war in europe much more likely than ever, more and more schemes are going to fall by the wayside as we move toward a war economy. We will be manufacturing drones and ammunition way before heat pumps

i had solar panels when i lived in cyprus and they basically provided a few hot showers worth of water a day. In a country like scotland where there is near darkness for 3 months of the year i can't see it being economically feasible at all
