Another interesting thing I know in relation to that song is that Prince once got into a physical confrontation with Sinead O'Connor over the bad language she'd use when performing the song live.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers song "I Could Have Lied" was written by Anthony Kiedis about Sinead O'Connor, he claims he had a relationship with her and she dumped him, Sinead always denied this and said she and him never had a romantic relationship with him at all
