Default Leon To Sing At Edinburgh Hogmanay

Quote:
Leon To Sing At Edinburgh Hogmanay
X FACTOR winner Leon Jackson will sing in the New Year at Edinburgh's Hogmanay street party.

The Rangers fan will also salute the crowd before the Ibrox side's home clash with Motherwell on Boxing Day.

At the hogmanay bash, Leon, 18, will perform on the Waverley Stage on Waverley Bridge.

The city's Lord Provost George Grubb said: "I am delighted Leon accepted my invitation to perform for Edinburgh's fantastic Hogmanay crowd.

"He's a true star in the making. All of Scotland is proud of him and I'm sure his appearance at Edinburgh's Hogmanay will be an early highlight in a long and successful career."

The hogmanay gig will be the second live gig before a home crowd by Leon, of Whitburn, West Lothian, since winning X Factor.

Earlier this week, he wowed an audience at Livingston's Almondvale Shopping Centre, where he used to work.

Teddy bears and underwear thrown by fans littered the stage as he sang the official X Factor song When You Believe, which is expected to be the Christmas No1.

At the Hogmanay gig, he will join international stars such as Kasabian, Calvin Harris, Idlewild, King Creosote and Peter Hook.

It should prove to be the perfect end to a year that saw Leon go from Gap shop assistant to chart-topping singer.
