Ah, I keep thinking American. Chips as in "crisps" as you refer to them. THAT would even weirder than French Fries or "chips" as you refer to them. (I was thinking sprinkling two drops of soy sauce on each crisp, )

Anyway, I don't think it's SUPER weird. I've certainly heard of weirder food combinations that sound even more bizarre.
