Lets dance show 1 round up

This evening's show saw six dance routines recreated by a raft of top celebrities - but there were only two places in the final. How did they fare out there on the dancefloor?

First up were Cliff Parisi and John Partridge - better known as Minty and Christian from EastEnders - dancing "We're All in This Together" from High School Musical. What did the panel think of the pair's enthusiastic bopping?

Anton Du Beke thought it was "incredible... you picked it up and when you got into it it was amazing!" Emma Bunton was impressed by the pair's energy, and even though Cliff was "a count below for the whole dance", she forgave him for his sexy shorts.

Next, talent show queen Nicki Chapman teamed up with everyone's panto fave Christopher Biggins for an interesting performance of "You're the One that I Want" from Grease.

"Well, it had a few of the steps of the original," said Anton to Christopher. "But Nickie - ooh, my goodness me!" Emma added, "Nickie, those leather trousers look so sexy on you! You had great chemistry, but Biggins, you weren't quite my Danny tonight."

Comedian Michael McIntyre was impressed by Christopher's style. "It was sensational! Why dance when you can walk? I can see a future for you - Strictly Come Walking... Walking on Ice..."

Then Robert Webb performed his interpretation of "What A Feeling" from Flashdance, complete with terrifyingly high-cut leotard, legwarmers and frightwig. Once the panel got over their shock, they loved it.

"Underneath the hair and leotard - excellent legs, by the way - was a brilliant dance!" exclaimed Anton. "You were no joke," agreed Emma. "You did a split jump!" Michael meanwhile, had to admit that he couldn't focus on the dance because Robert "bears a resemblance to a French girl I was once intimate with," but still thought it was "fantastic", despite Robert's "girly legs."

Then it was the turn of the Chefs, teaming up to recreate the dance from Michael Jackson's Thriller video. Did their zombie moves thrill the panel?

"I would have liked to have seen more hips," said Anton, and singled out Nancy Lam as his favourite. Emma said how proud she was of them, "You all worked well together - you were really really good," while Michael said it had been his favourite so far.

Les Dennis took to the dancefloor next, strutting his funky disco stuff to "You Should be Dancing" from Saturday Night Fever.

"I think you've made dad dancing fashionable again," said Emma. "The last section, where you had all the girls and boys dancing with you, was brilliant," thought Anton.

Finally, Dick and Dom donned dark glasses to dance "Shake a Tailfeather" from The Blues Brothers, joined halfway through by little Dick and Dom.

For Anton, it was "best of the night. You danced in perfect harmony." Emma agreed, saying, "The whole routine was really polished." Michael felt that could be a problem. "They could do it professionally... Almost too good. One of you could have fallen over!"

Then, while the audience took their chance to vote, there were performances from The Saturdays andthe lead actor of the Billy Elliot musical, plus a chance to see how the money raised by Comic Relief goes to help charities.

At last, it was time to find out which acts the public had chosen. After a tense countdown, it was revealed that Robert Webb would be going straight through to the final, while second place was between the EastEnders and Dick and Dom. Michael picked the EastEnders. Emma picked Dick and Dom. It was up to Anton to cast the deciding vote - for Dick and Dom.

So Robert Webb and Dick and Dom went through to the final of Let's Dance for Comic Relief. Don't miss the next show, at 7.25pm, Saturday 28 BBC One.

Take that's Gary Barlow may not be able to climb mountain kilimanjaro for comic relief
Quote:
Kilimanjaro may be too high after all for Take That's Gary Barlow, after he put his back out just days before a climb up the mountain for charity.
The 38-year-old singer is due to scale the 19,000ft African peak next month with a team of celebrities to raise money for Comic Relief.

But fellow climbers Cheryl Cole, Ronan Keating and Denise Van Outen maybe have to start without him because doctors have advised him to rest until he departs this Friday.

A Comic Relief spokesman said: "Due to a hectic training schedule for his (climb) and to promote the new Take That single 'Up All Night', the muscles in Gary' Barlow's back have gone into spasm.

"Gary saw an eminent specialist together with Professor Greg Whyte who is the trainer for the 'BT Red Nose Climb' and has been treated appropriately for this minor injury."

He added that there was no cause for concern.

"Gary saw the specialist as a precaution because he is determined that he will be fit and well to continue his mission to raise mountains of cash," he said.

Other climbers taking part include Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles and presenter Fearne Cotton.

He'll be fine,as long as he rests properly. Hopefully! I'm worried but my mum said he has his wife to worry and that I shouldn't

Everything crossed that he will. Gary was the one who thought of the idea and organized it all so it would be a huge shame if he couldn't.

Comic Relief's celebrity climbers avoided a last-minute hiccup as they jetted out to Tanzania to embark on the first leg of The BT Red Nose Climb to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating nearly missed the outbound flight after his connection from Dublin was delayed by an hour-and-a-half.

The star had to be personally driven across the Heathrow tarmac in order to catch the waiting flight.
